UCSF MEPN Applicants for 2010 entry

Published

I thought I would start a new thread. I've read quite a bit of the activity from previous classes and I thought it would be great to get a community of support started for those who have applied for UCSF's MEPN program... not just for us now, but for the future applicants who will read our posts! (: (the added bonus is this thread will be in gender neutral territory ;)

Would love to hear the stories of folks who are applying to nursing programs (UCSF and otherwise).

Thanks!

Sandman, Ebowman, MLIS2MSN, and anyone else thinking of coming to Guatemala- do it!

I'm new to posting, but I've been following along here for a while, and it looks like I am in to MEPN for FNP! So exciting! I actually jumped the gun a bit and quit my job almost a year ago, haha, and I've been traveling in South and Central America more or less since then. I am in Guatemala right now, and I am planning to be here for another 6 weeks or so, hopefully at least half of that in the Xela area. So if any of you come down, let me know! I would love to meet you if we overlap, and I can try to pass on advice about the area.

sorry to take things away from the language immersion discussion (my personal opinion on it is beach on hawaii +laptop loaded with rosetta stone=language immersion), but i was wondering if anyone has seen anything of the mysterious official email/letter we're supposed to be receiving soon. it's not that i don't believe the unofficial email we all got, but i felt it best to hold off on telling my backup schools no until i got the official word from ucsf. so, anyone else get anything?

I just got the email that the official decision has been posted on the application page! SO NICE to see it in print and real! This comes after I had a ridiculous bad dream about UCSF changing their mind about my admission.

I got it today too! It does feel better getting that official notice doesn't it (more jumping ensued on my part, for sure)!

And as for travels...i won't be able to do any before the program, as i'll be finishing up classes until the week before we begin...eek. But i hope you all head out on some great adventures so I can live through you!

Ebowman, I received your message but I don't have the ability to send private messages yet, so I can't figure out how to reply! Lake Atitlan is beautiful and will be a great place to relax. There are also many different traditional villages that you can take day trips to, so it is a great base. I'm not traveling alone, but I have met a lot of women who are, and you should be totally fine as long as you take basic precautions...if you go on any hikes, take a guide, don't wander around at night, etc. If I can ever figure out how to use this site to send you an email, I'll write more!

Hi guys,

I am going to be applying to the MEPN program for midwifery and wanted to get some ideas on ways to improve my application. For those of you who have been accepted, what were your GRE scores, backgrounds, grades, etc... What do you think is important to separate you from other applicants. I would appreciate any feedback or ideas.

Thanks for your help

I am applying for Fall 2011. Did you get in for fall of this year?? If so, how is it going??

Congratulations!! How is it going? I am applying to the ANP program for fall of 2011 but for the MSN program. I already have my BSN. Have you heard anything in regards to how many they take? Also, what do you think made your application stand out from the rest?

Thanks
