I thought I would start a new thread. I've read quite a bit of the activity from previous classes and I thought it would be great to get a community of support started for those who have applied for UCSF's MEPN program... not just for us now, but for the future applicants who will read our posts! (: (the added bonus is this thread will be in gender neutral territory
Would love to hear the stories of folks who are applying to nursing programs (UCSF and otherwise).
Thanks!
Ranger Liz,
I applied to UCSF, Yale, Columbia, Georgetown, Penn & Emory for midwifery and each school has stressed how important your whole package is, not just your scores/GPAs. I know that some schools place emphasis on a certain field/subject--Emory, for instance on serving needy populations, UCSF-spanish language skills, Georgetown--international focus, etc. So, if you are applying to a specific program, find out what are the strengths of the program and build up your skill-sets accordingly.
To everyone waiting on the UCSF decision--GOOD LUCK!!!
Like a bad applicant, I just called the admin office. They said decisions aren't going out until March 15! I don't know if the person I spoke with had bad information, or if UCSF has just been slower in processing applications than they initially expected. Any idea how we can get confirmation that March 15 is the expected date for finding out? I want to know if I can put my fear and anxiety aside for another couple weeks!
Man, I thought we would have heard earlier. But, I just checked my notes and I had written down "March 15th" as the approximate date we would hear from UCSF. Also, does anyone know how their financial aid application works? I read on the website to send financial info to UCSF AFTER you were accepted, so haven't sent anything yet. Maybe I screwed that up.

p.s. I submitted my FAFSA for the summer already for all of the schools I applied to...maybe I shouldn't have done that but I didn't see any other way!
