I thought I would start a new thread. I've read quite a bit of the activity from previous classes and I thought it would be great to get a community of support started for those who have applied for UCSF's MEPN program... not just for us now, but for the future applicants who will read our posts! (: (the added bonus is this thread will be in gender neutral territory
Would love to hear the stories of folks who are applying to nursing programs (UCSF and otherwise).
Thanks!
Does anyone know if decision emails will be sent along with paper letters? It seems like that happened last year, but at the interview a postmark date was mentioned which leads me to believe that maybe not... I'm going to be out of town the first week of March and wanted to plan accordingly.
Hello,
I will be applying for the 2011 class and would like to ask those of you getting interviews (for this 2010 class) what your GRE scores and GPAs are like. I know this is personal however I'm aware of how competitive these programs are and I'm trying to get a feel for what my chances may be like. I'm aware admissions will tell you 3.0 gpa and 580 GRE, but I'd like to hear from you actually getting interviews and/or accepted.
I am a 2005 Economics and Geography major from Bucknell University (with a 3.39 gpa) who has been working as a Park Ranger for the City of San Luis Obispo for the past 4 years and will be applying to various ABSN and MSN programs this summer.
Thanks!
RangerLiz, I had undergrad and grad GPA's of around 3.8 and my prerequisite GPA was approximately 3.5, if I remember correctly (I don't have the info in front of me). I got all A's accept for a C in Chemistry and a B in Physiology.
I didn't think I did very well on the GRE, scoring a 470 (math) and 480 (verbal).
I was really surprised when they contacted me for an interview and am counting the days until we get our acceptance/rejection letters.
Where else are you applying?
I wish you the best of luck!!
RangerLiz,
I had a 3.6 undergrad GPA and 3.5 grad GPA from a top MPH program. I think my past work experience in health education and cancer research helped, since my GRE was low - 1080. I think I got Bs in all my pre-reqs. I applied last year and did not get an interview, but when I reapplied this year I chose a specialty that is less competitive, which I think helped and I also think will be more along my career interests. Good luck with applications!

Thanks for sharing your interview experiences! I'm getting a bit nervous for the big day tomorrow. Quick question - what was the general group attire? Were many people in suits or was it more business casual?
Thanks!
