Honestly, I'm kind of confused myself because I also applied to every open IMU/PCU unit and my app was not competitive for those. I'm guessing that it was my ICU preceptorship (120 hours) that made the difference in making it to the next step. I can give you all my stats, but I assume everyone applying to ICU spots have similar stats to me: 3.9 GPA, Sigma honor society, previous bachelors degree in biology, was an anatomy TA and Bio TA, Covid tester for 2 years, volunteered briefly at Kaiser during covid but nothing recently, I'm working at a hospital right now but as a security guard. Those are pretty much the highlights of my resume. In the 'do you want us to know anything else' section I mentioned that I've been on 3 mission trips but that was a long, long time ago so probably doesn't have much weight.

I got referred to hiring for one of the ICU positions so fingers crossed

Does anyone know the timeline?
within the next month or two we would hear back for interviews...

July 14th are the decisions

when does the cohort start?

I just shared the slide that has all the dates from the webinar. On that is states that the start date is August 8th but that could change.

Hello! I was routed for three ICUs (Neuro ICU, M/S/O ICU, and Surgical ICU at Hillcrest), but was not routed for all of the PCU positions. Some of my background is that I have 216 hours in an ICU setting from my preceptorship along with completing over 140 hours in an ICU setting from an additional preceptorship/externship. As far as my other stats go, I have a 3.8 GPA, 3 years of healthcare experience, ACLS/BLS/NHISS, along with being an employee of another UC health system (not UCSD). For the "do you want us to know anything else" section, I believe that I wrote that although my primary residence is not in San Diego, I have relatives that I could readily move in with if selected for further consideration.

Any updates? Anyone heard back from neuro ICU?

Hi! Has anyone heard anything back from perinatal services?

Hi, I was wondering if you have any tips as to what you have about L&D positions to look more competitive

Specializes in New Grad.

Just FYI to all who applied. UCSD is currently on a hiring freeze. I spoke to a manager from one of the ICU units and all is on hold for now. Just wanting to let you guys know so you don't get discouraged.

Yeah I received an email a couple of days ago about the freeze. FML 🤦🏿‍♂️

Is that why the application status changed from "hiring manager" to"hiring department" now? LOL
