Hi just wanted to create this for everyone who is applying to the UCSD Summer Cohort starting this Summer 2025!

did you all have the min and preferred qualifications? I didn't apply because I didn't have the preferred qualifications. Just trying to see if I can try next time. I shouldn't have cut myself short, but it's okay.
What do you mean by preferred qualifications for yourself? According to the position I applied for, I do. But I am not sure if it is different for other positions in this new grad residency program. I graduate with my BSN at the end of April. I got my ACLS, PALS, and BLS, and I have an appt for NRP. I finished my preceptorship in the same specialty to which I applied (a different hospital), where my application status changed to referred to the hiring manager. I think you should absolutely try next time and build your certs if you don't have these, and do not give up! You're going to be a great nurse no matter what and where you land. We all collectively do not have RN experience; they know that. These are new grad programs for a reason, so I think you should apply everywhere and see what happens; you never know. 🙂

The flyer about the new grad program had a list of qualifications followed by additional items they preferred, like having clinical units there or volunteer hours. There were more I just can't remember off the top of my head.
I have all the items you listed! I just have zero medical experience background. I did apply because of how many open positions, and my lack of experience and lack of their preferred items. I'm currently in a new grad program for another hospital but it is not a specialty unit, like I had hoped. So I'll keep an eye out for their next cohort and apply then.
good luck to those who have had their applications being reviewed!

That's awesome! Congrats to all of you that made it to the next steps. I applied to 8 positions and all say "others more competitive" as of this afternoon. Best wishes to those still waiting for responses.

Thank you for the info and clarification! I figured that's what it meant but just wanted to be sure. Congrats to everyone who has been referred🎉🎉🎉
