UCSD New Grad Program - August 2013 Postings

Hey everyone! Has anyone applied for the recent postings for New Grad positions at UCSD? I haven't seen much conversation on here about new grad positions so I thought I'd start this one. I applied for Hem/Onc, IMU, and PCU. I'll post on here if I hear anything! Best of luck to those that applied.

Does everyone who got an interview at UCSD have a connection/referral in the hospital? I heard that it's impossible to get an interview unless you know someone. I'm about to apply for a position for the 5th time this year and I feel like my application isn't even being looked at. I'm applying for a unit that's hiring TWO new grads. I want to gauge if I should even put in the effort of applying again and doing the long questions if no one's even gonna give my application a glance. :(

Thanks, obladi. :) I ended up applying for the 2 med-surg positions they had up (although they're only looking to hire 1-2 new grads). I had the q&a saved so I just had to tweak them a little before turning them in. It just sucks that you put so much into application for a very slim chance of even getting an interview. :\ Anyway, here's to hoping! :)

Copy and paste all your answers from previous applications and save then for future use. Saves time with each growing application. Apply, don't look back and hold your breath. You'll find yourself to be much more efficient this way, and maybe add several minutes to your life by saving yourself from all the anxiety haha.

I just checked my status online and it changed to "referred to hiring department" on the 18th and 19th. I know the status change doesn't really mean anything, but I got excited just because it's the farthest I've gone in UCSD apps! I hope I get at least an interview...at the very least to give me practice. Been feeling like I'm in a rut lately :\ Anyone else heard back? I hope everyone's doing well! Holiday music started playing in the radio already and I'm not yet in the holiday mood when still looking for a job.

I applied for the two available med-surg positions. Trying not to get too excited though. A friend of mine had the same status change for oncology a few months ago and she never got a call for an interview. :\ But, still hoping!! :)

Anyone heard back from the NICU/FMCC program? I have an interview on 12/4. So excited!!

Finally, got 2 "referred to hiring department" status changes... ICU and ER, however I only did preceptorships in ICU and someone on FB posted that according to a HR person, they usually only want a person who did preceptorships in a matching unit.... But, we'll see.... Best of luck to everyone with interviews, and to all the rest of us too!

I applied to BMT/Oncology. As of 11/20 my app says, "Referred to hiring manager"..... does anyone know when we will hear back? And has anyone tried to call? Thanks!
