UCLA Summer 2016 RN New Grad Residency Program

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to make a forum to connect anyone that is applying for UCLA's new grad program starting this summer! Post below if you're interested in applying and which units you're interested in. I'm thinking about SICU, oncology, and the OR.

I had a 4.0 gpa for my bsn and held various leadership positions, did my preceptorship in the icu, and also am a ucla alumni. It's just disheartening to know that maybe after all you do, someone doesn't feel like you're qualified enough. Or, maybe they are not done going through applications yet! :) Fingers crossed!

What were your stats like?

I don't think they take gpa into consideration because I didn't even include that in my resume. I have a 3.6 though, senior preceptorship in the OR and an internship at a general ICU floor in Toledo, Spain. I got my interview for transplant ICU but my preferences were SICU and OR

That is pretty impressive! I would be very surprised if they didn't send you an invite for the interview. Like herna372 said, I don't think they take gpa into consideration for the interview invites, and even after the interviews, they try to look at the whole package. I have a 3.6, did my senior preceptorship in the ICU, involved and held positions for my school clubs and organizations. I did include my gpa in my resume.

Did you get an invite for an interview?

Yes I did! I'm very grateful for this opportunity, and I hope it works out for you as well

Great stats guys and congrats on all your interviews! Best of luck guys!

As an update, I recently just accepted a position for a new grad program in the ICU in the O.C in California starting the end of this month.

This waiting game and the uncertainty of what's to come pushed me to take advantage of this opportunity!

But, if I were able to land an interview and secure a spot at UCLA's program, I would quit and take that immediately. Just curious as to if you guys applied elsewhere in Cali and if you guys have a back up plan just in case UCLA doesn't work out.

Krondike Do you mind if I ask what unit you're interviewing for?

Did anyone get an interview for perinatal?

i received an invite yesterday for an interview for perinatal =]

Hey everyone, just found this thread. I have an interview for an observation unit on 5/16. Looking forward to future comments on this thread! Good luck to everyone!

Does anyone know if we have to come back for the second interview? I don't live in LA so I hope they don't make us fly out there again. It's already pretty expensive for that first interview.
