  1. My status didn't change until end of March/beginning of April. And I didn't get the interview email until end of April. I was discouraged until I got that email, UCLA just takes forever to sort through applications
  2. I think every unit is different. I interviewed with a unit manager from a unit over (mine was out sick) and the patient care supervisor. They asked me about my resume, my experience, behavioral questions and some clinical questions. I think the clinical questions wouldve been hard to answer if you don't have experience working in the type of unit you interview for.
  3. I applied last year, first your status changes to "routed to interviewing supervisor", then you get an email 1-3 weeks afterwards. It'll have different time slots to sign up for as well as the unit managers information that you'll be interviewing with. That day, plan to spend 3-4 hours at the interview location. Last year I signed up for an 11am slot and my interview wasn't until 1pm (there's many candidates and they're usually running behind since every candidate has to do paperwork and fingerprints), then I had a unit tour an hour after that. At the interview, they give you two behavioral type questions that you have to write mini essays for. A couple of weeks after your interview you either get a reference email or you get a phone call with your offer from HR. I'm out of state and accepted a job at a local hospital but i received an offer from Liver Transplant ICU at Ronal Reagan
  4. I applied for MICU and step down/medsurg units. I'm from Minnesota and I'm currently employed on a cardiac stepdown/tele floor. Good luck everyone!
  5. I did my senior preceptorship in the OR for 5 months and now I have been hired by the same hospital. I've been here two months as a staff RN and I thought it would get better than it was as a student. Turns out it's worse. I feel like no one respects me. Surgeons act like children and throw tantrums. Coworkers talk about each other constantly in disrespectful manners. In fact, my supervisor has to speak with us on three occasions during morning report because of the constant bullying and harassment. It's like I'm back in grade school. Everyone says it gets better within a year or so. Hang in there if you really want it and if it's not completely ruining your mental health. Just keep in mind everyone has a hard time in the beginning!
  6. Hi everyone! I just graduated with a BSN, passed my boards and started my first job as an RN on a med/surg oncology floor. I was just looking for any advice on travel nursing (I'm interested in traveling abroad in Europe). I am especially interested in Madrid and London but would settle for anywhere in Europe really! Has anyone had any experience doing this transition? Any specific agency you recommend? Thanks!! Ps. I know I need a year of experience before I apply anywhere but I just wanted to get a head start!
  7. So I did my senior capstone (360 hours) in the operating room. However, I found it wasn't for me. I hated how poorly surgeons treat the staff and I didn't feel like I was using any of my nursing skills. (Also, yes I realize the OR is MUCH different than floor nursing and it has its own skill set). I kinda just felt like a glorified secretary though (answering doctor's pagers, running around to get suture, etc). Not for me. But I have applied to 40+ jobs and I have only received one interview for an ICU position and never heard back. My preceptor from the OR days keeps contacting me because she knows I passed my NCLEX and wants me to work at the OR I did my preceptorship. Long story short they offered me a job. Now, should I take the job, keep applying at other units, and quit when I get another job? Also, once I'm in the hospital's system would it be easy to move from the OR? Any tips would be much appreciated!!
  8. Yes! I'm pretty sure I heard they were livescans. I think she said they process in about three days. You can double check by calling their office too! (Way faster than emails)
  9. Only two! They were both really nice
  10. I just got back from my interview for 8ICU! They said they don't do second interviews and we'll be getting called around June or July with offers
  11. How were you guy's interviews? Any advice?
  12. For those of you that are out of town, I contacted HR through email and this is what they said: "We have many out of town candidates, so to be considerate of everyone's time if a manager would like to conduct a second interview or a unit tour they will only do so on the same day as the interview."
  13. I don't think they take gpa into consideration because I didn't even include that in my resume. I have a 3.6 though, senior preceptorship in the OR and an internship at a general ICU floor in Toledo, Spain. I got my interview for transplant ICU but my preferences were SICU and OR
  14. @deniP thank you!! And hang in there since interviews are JUST starting to go out!
  15. @DeniP I think they do! I wasn't set on SICU, but I also didn't select transplant anywhere. They probably just route you to wherever they feel you're most qualified for
