UCLA Summer 2016 RN New Grad Residency Program

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to make a forum to connect anyone that is applying for UCLA's new grad program starting this summer! Post below if you're interested in applying and which units you're interested in. I'm thinking about SICU, oncology, and the OR.

Also @jf16 my status changed 3/23 I believe.

No change yet, patiently waiting. But will do. Considering reaching out to recruiters or unit supervisors soon if no changes within the week. Anyone else consider the same or have done so already with any results? Good vibes to everybody.

Does anyone know if we're supposed to have our RN license by time of interview or by time the program starts (September)?

In September. I graduate two weeks before the interview. So they are perfectly fine as long as you have your license by the first day of work!

Awesome, that's what I was hoping for.

Just received an invitation for an interview with the Neuro/Trauma ICU! My status has been the "routed to interviewing supervisor" since 3/23 so don't give up hope!! :)

Just RSVP'd for my interview on May 13th for pediatrics! I am so stoked because this is my second time applying to UCLA! Never give up!! :)

Hi guys! I just found this thread...

I applied for Medical ICU and General Adult ICU and my status has not changed! Looking back, I don't recall anyone from MICU or General ICU receiving an invite for interview or am I wrong?

Congrats to everyone else who has an interview! Selection seems tough and here I thought I had a great resume, gpa, and the fact that ucla is my alma mater would help but it hasn't yet!

Any help would be great! Keep us posted and good luck!

Jf16,

If you decide to reach out to the recruiters or unit supervisors can you please keep us posted on what they say ? Good luck, I wish you the best of luck with your application.

Hi! I applied to both MICU and Adult ICU and my status hasn't changed. Hopeful though. :)

Those of you from out of state, for my sheer curiosity, why relocate to California? Pay? UCLA's reputation? You want to live in California? I just wonder what peoples reasons are.

Born and raised in California, moved to NYC for nursing school.... ready to be back in the SoCal sunshine with my family. :)

what was your gpa?

I had a 4.0 gpa for my bsn and held various leadership positions, did my preceptorship in the icu, and also am a ucla alumni. It's just disheartening to know that maybe after all you do, someone doesn't feel like you're qualified enough. Or, maybe they are not done going through applications yet! :) Fingers crossed!

What were your stats like?
