Hi I recently applied for the Spring 2024 cohort and didn't see a thread yet. How is everyone's application going?
Hi guys! Since we haven't received a response from the participant who said has already received a rejection notification, I decided to email the person who sent out the invitations to interview about this claim. The person who answered (initials N.R.) stated that as far as he is concerned, no one has sent out rejection notices. He confirmed that for some units, the last day to interview is tomorrow, Friday, November 17, 2023, but there are a couple of units who will be interviewing until the last week of November. Therefore, he said it is too early to be expecting rejection letters. Regarding the one participant who stated that she has received an offer already, he said that could be possible, but as far as he knows, no unit has finalized their decisions. Therefore, offers should be expected after Thanksgiving, but not before that. I also asked him if he could share their recruitment hierarchy. He said that internal applicants will be preferred over external. Also, UCLA alumni have preference; and lastly, those of us who are alumni, if we have a master's we would get preference over an applicant with a bachelor's. Took a few days, but I finally received an answer to share on this thread.

I appreciate the transparency and that you went to go find us some answers. I think this will ease some of the anxiety for some people.

Makes sense but damn I'm external with a bachelor's and not an alumni ? LOL

There are plenty of contributing factors to get picked: Unit, openings available for that unit, how many applicants are actually up there in the recruitment hierarchy, and applicant performance during the interview, just to name a few. Don't lose hope just yet! It ain't over until the fat lady sings!
