Hi ms88,I was interviewed with the assistant director but i called the director of the unit bc the director usually has the final say in the decisions. I got the directors number from the hr. Hope this helps and good luck!
Yea, congrats to you!! Would you say that the call bumped up your offer or do you think they just didn't get a chance to call you?
Hi Sally
I am not entirely sure that my call was the reason for their decision to hire me entirely but I believe it helped me stay fresh in their minds since they were in th process of choosing which new grads to hire. My uncle told me to call them bc he heard of someone that called ucla and her application was in the rejection list bc they thought she didn't want to work part time. She told them that she was and they immediately hired her.
It is always good to call and make sure that there are no mistakes with your application- especially with shift preferences.
When I was done with my interview I kind of knew that I had the job bc the assistant director told me that I was interviewing for Santa Monica intemediate care unit. I originally thought I would be interviewing for the cardiac floor bc that is what I told the hr when she asked me for my med surg preference. Then she asked me which shift I prefer- full time or part time. I told her that i prefer full time but that I am open to any shift. She told me that i will be working days and nights and asked if that was ok and of course i said that was fine. Lastly she handed me a job description packet and told me that I could keep it. I asked her when I will recieve a call and she said in one week. But it took about 3 weeks for the director to call me with the job offer.
I think that if you're having doubts, just call! The anxiety is overwhelming and its pretty much been three weeks for most people since their interviews. I just called the UD I interviewed with, she said she was in a meeting and will call me back later today, she asked again if I had my license already and that she will get back to me for sure in a bit. Don't know what that means, but at least I'll find out something later today. Good luck to everyone, this has been a tough month!

Sorry, I'm just catching up on this discussion. What unit did you interview for?
Hi jamie2487 (and everyone else)Thanks for your reply, hr gave me the asst ud's number so I left her a message. I got the same packet for the job description as well. Is this something that all unit directors did?
Hi MS88,
I think it is something all UDs did. I received one after my interview for ER. Best of luck! I know how much the wait sucks.

Hey Calaurenk,
Thank you again! I am actually from Northern California. I am planning to move to LA in February too. My friend got hired at SM too so we are currently looking for a place preferably close to the hospital. Where are you from?
Thanks,
J Mac
