I got a call the other day for an interview on the Psych unit on Nov 15th!! Anyone else get a call for Psych or Med/Surg? Good luck everyone!

Congrats on getting an interview! Are you interviewing for both units?

Interviewing for just the Psych unit. :) And ty, hope u get a call too (if u applied) :)

Hi eager applicants,

For anyone who selected ED for their first choice, um, good luck landing an interview.... I heard straight from UCLA that they are only looking to hire two people, and invited only 4 to interview. ED always has internal applicants and a TON of externals. I also know they are initially looking at your first choice for units, so you really do have to choose wisely and strategically (i.e. better chance to get that interview call if you pick a unit hiring lots of new grads).

I also know that they will continue to call candidates throughout November after the first round of interviews depending on the units and how they like the people they interviewed.

Yes, so true, my cousin got an interview (NICU) for the previous cohorts group, she's got stellar credentials, high GPA (cumulative 3.80) from a pretty good CA 4 year college, lots of volunteer work (tons), very friendly personailty (makes a gloomy room light up), excellent references...a "shoo-in"..for any hospital in the country.

Sorry, don't mean to brag, but if you knew and saw her resume and cover letter, you would have passed her thru. She felt pretty good in the panel interviews, etc., answered their situation questions very well, etc. In the exiting, she got positive remarks, etc.

But in the end, she did not get accepted here at UCLA nor any CA hospitals, we were so taken away....why?

Never know what life's is going to hand out to you, she did get offers from other out-of-state places and settled in TX. She's glad and taken in stride, she actually enjoys it there and can't beat the cost of living, having just purchased a fairly nice first-time home (depressed prices there, but lots of bargains for 3,000 sf. ft. homes). So she's very happy.

Good luck to all!!

Congrats! I applied for psych too, but still no call :( Can you share some of your past education and experience so in case I need to apply again I know what they are looking for in a candidate?

I also applied for Psych. No call. :(

Congrats to you!

I hope they'll keep calling into next week. I know they were still calling people for ICU units last week, so they might not be done calling just yet! As far as education and experience, I don't have any nursing experience other than volunteering at a local hospital in San Diego north county in the ED for about a year, and I Just graduated in May with a BSN. So, my only psych experience is one semester of the BSN program I was in. Not sure what they were looking for overall. Also, my 1st choice was Med/Surg and Psych was my 2nd choice, so maybe they'll call people who picked Psych 1st next week? I'll be praying you guys get calls next week!

how reliable is this source? i got a call to interview for ER but i HIGHLY doubt they only called four. with hundreds applying, there should be at least 10/15 people interviewing no? but 2:4, that's a 50% chance....way too high. lol.

Hi Crazycaryl88,

first off, congratulations on getting an ED interview. From what I've been told it's tough competition, so good for you! Do you have PM privileges? If you PM me I can tell you what I know and from whom. I don't have enough posts so I can't send a PM quite yet....

My friend just got a call for M/S today!!

oh nice ! they are still making calls! :-)
