UCLA New Grad Program 2010

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Has anyone heard anything back from the UCLA New Grad Summer Program for 2010? I applied in the beginning of February and have only had a phone interview so far, with no feedback yet. Any info or others' experience would be much appreciated, thank you!

I got my Danskos at Nordstroms but of coorifice there wasn't a discount. However, after almost three months on the job, I can't live without them. I can't believe my "New Grad" status at Loma Linda is almost done. Started Dec. 6th and one more week and I'm without the preceptor and on my own. Good Luck to all of you who are just getting started and if you end up with "nights" it's really not that bad.

Hey everyone =). Is anyone familiar with the Geriatric Step-down unit at SM? Regarding how many beds, patient population...etc

Any information about the unit would be super helpful. Thanks!

Hey Nurses. I'm interviewing for the Neuro/Trauma ICU at UCLA for the new grad program in a couple of days. Have any new grads interviewed there, and can offer some tips?

Does anybody remember any of the interview questions for the neuro unit at UCLA for the new grad program?

Hey guys, for those of you that got offered a position and would like to be facebook friends send me a private message. I'm moving from out of town and would love to meet fellow new grads during this transition =) My orientation starts in March!!!

hello everyone,

I was just looking over paperwork for the employee health screen, does anyone know about the immunization requirements? Just wondering if anyone who has been to the screening can give some info.

Specializes in Ortho/Neuro/Trauma.

@newnurse4343, you're going to need immunization for the following:

- Hep B (3 dosages)

- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccinations)

- Varicella (2 vaccinations)

If you don't have the following, I think they send you somewhere to get it done. But if you're already up to date, just bring documentation (e.g. immunization record) to show that you already had them done.

You'll also need to have 2 TB tests within the past year prior to your start date. So if you already had one within the past year (assuming from nursing school health clearance) then they will do the second TB test there and you'll have to go back to get it read within 2 days.

You're also going to do a urine tox screen done that day and they send you to UCLA Med Center's lab to get it done.

The physical was just simple range of motion exercises--nothing that involved lifting or anything slightly physical.

Hope this helps!

wow, thanks a lot.

and tetorifice...

what types of questions were on the talent plus interview? I heard they were a "weird" style?

To those who have applied -

I am applying to the new grad program which applications start on March 7. I was wondering if there is an application online right now that we can print and fill out, or if it only appears once the application period has opened?

Is this application long? I have heard to have all my materials read to copy and paste or attach into the application, but from past experience, doing the actual application has been tedious.

Where does the application appear? Currently, the only place you can find information about the new grad program is under the "events" website, but I have tried to click around and find the actual application, but have had no luck.

One final question, I just started an job application online that I found somewhere on the UCLA website. Is this needed, or do I just wait for the one that appears (??) on March 7?

Thanks!!
