UCLA New Grad Program 2010

Published

Has anyone heard anything back from the UCLA New Grad Summer Program for 2010? I applied in the beginning of February and have only had a phone interview so far, with no feedback yet. Any info or others' experience would be much appreciated, thank you!

Yes I did. I messaged you back.

So I wanted to share my experience since this forum has helped me stay sane. So on Monday I sent an email to UCLA recruitement saying I wanted to set up an interview. I then got a call on tues to schedule an interview for NICU and PICU. Im not sure if they called me because of the email or just because they were just getting to my application. Anyways i interviewed Weds with the nurse recruiter and it went really well. Then I interviewed on Thurs with the PICU manager. Afterwards I was unsure of how it went but thought it went well. And it must have gone well be cause she called me a half hour after I left to offer me a position. Of course I said yes because I loved the unit! I also learned that the PICU is looking to hire 10 people and she's hiring as she interviews people. She has hired 5 so far including me so she still has 5 spots left. Im not sure about NICU but I spoke to the nurse recruiter after my job acceptance and she told me she wasnt sure if tey were even hiring any more people in their NICU. Anyways Im happy and ready for the challege of the PICU. I really hope that this gives you guys who want peds some sort of idea about where they are in their hiring. Goodluck to everyone!

That is amazing!! Congratulations!!! I'm interviewing for the PICU Jan 7th. And I'm so nervous. I just sent you a message, let me know if you received it. Thanks! Happy Holidays!

Im new to this site so I dont think i can send PMs yet. All I can say about the interview is to be confident and be yourself. She didn't ask me any critical thinking questions but she did ask me regular interview questions. Goodluck on yoyr interview and let me know how it goes and how you like the unit.

Thanks so much! I will definitely be updating on this forum!

Hi PICU peers!

I will interview for PICU, too -- I am sooooo thrilled.

Mattel is really beautiful and feels open and clean...

Thanks for sharing about your interview experience. Maybe you can answer or not.... but, did she say when you will start? Will all the new grads start the same time or how does it work? Are the shifts varied or all day/night, etc...?

I am so nervous!...but equally excited.

I hope we all get to work together soon!

Merry Happy to everyone!

@ObiWannJJ congrats! when's your interview?

Interview tips- be confident, let your personality shine:-) when it comes to interviewing every unit has their own style. don't be surprised if it's a panel interview, expect the unexpected.Review the standard behavioral interview questions with specific examples...research your unit. Like common meds, pts seen etc. It's better to be over prepared then under. Good luck! Remember to leave a lasting impression!!
