UCLA MECN 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey there, I am planning on applying to the UCLA MECN 2016 program and was wondering if anyone else out there was applying as well. Just curious about other applicants and hoping to go through this application process with some other people! Would love any feedback. Thanks :)

Any news from waitlisters? :D

Was waitlisted, but received official rejection letter today. Good luck for anyone still on the waitlist.

Side note, I know what the rejection letter looks like now! I got that going for me.

I saw a few posts ago about an epidemiology course through UCB extension. Would it be possible for someone to let me know the course title just so I know I'm looking at the right one? Thank you!

Hi Everyone! Hopefully some are still following this thread. I wanted to see if any one who was accepted could share some of there "stats"

like GPA, experience, certifications etc. I am looking into this program and want to try to make myself a competitive applicant.

Thanks so much!

Hello everyone! Can anyone share any insight into what UCLA looks for in an applicant ? GPA, Work experience, LORs?

Thank you and congrats on your acceptances! !!

For those who got into the program, please if you can could you give me your stats. etc.

I will be applying for the 2017 program and i want to be prepared.

Hi Wanjira,

There is no way for anyone who got accepted to tell you ecacyly what the program is looking for. I would guess that they are looking for individuals who are nothing alike (if that makes any sense). Everyone seems to be from different educational backgrounds with GPA's of all different numbers above what is required. So, the only advice I can offer is to just try your best, be very detailed in you SOP, and keep your GPA above what's expected. Also, the best way to get accurate answers would be to attend the Admissions Information session, if you have time. Go on the web and RSVP. They will answer ALL of your questions and it's VERY informative. I hope this helps. Good luck!

@Luv4God

Thank you so much. I attended the Info session and got lots of info. Will be applying next month. Fingers crossed.

Hi there!

I might be applying as well! I am worried about my l lack of health care experience and modest GPA lol. I've also been out of school awhile so I'm concerned with my LORs....I really want to apply, but part of me feels like it may not be worth it like I'm not competitive enough. Any how just thought Id share and respond to you since we may be in the same boat soon!

Good luck!

Apply apply apply. ucla takes a holistic approach in looking at your application. In regards to your LORs , get those from employers. Volunteer to get experience!

awe thank you for your words of encouragement ! I think i will apply. I hope the LORs from employers are just as important as those from professors. I'll definitely start volunteering soon it may make a difference.

Hi everyone,

I just sent in my application today and was wondering if my stats are ideal for an accepted applicant. If anyone who was previously accepted with similar stats could provide some feedback that'd be great.

- Graduating Dec 2016: BS Public Health

- Undergrad GPA (after Dec): ~3.4-3.5

- All Pre Reqs completed: Yes

- Pre Req GPA: 3.5 (1 "C" for pre reqs)

- Work Experience (EMT - 2 companies (BLS & First Responder): 1800+ hours

- Lead/Supervisor EMT Experience

- Strong SOP / LOR

- Hospital internship as CCE: 300+ hours

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
