UCLA MECN 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey there, I am planning on applying to the UCLA MECN 2016 program and was wondering if anyone else out there was applying as well. Just curious about other applicants and hoping to go through this application process with some other people! Would love any feedback. Thanks :)

I've started the application but I'm really nervous. The main problem I have is my BS, my GPA was quite low, however, when I met with admissions they encouraged me to apply. My Prerequisites are As, except for a C in statistics, which I'll take again. As for experience, I've been a LVN since 2011 and volunteered for the American Heart Association. I'm currently working on my personal statement and I'm really nervous. I'm applying to a few other schools, but UCLA is my first choice,

I went through the MECN program, my advice would be to keep in contact with admissions, ace that statistics prereq, and apply. They take lots of factors into consideration. Good luck!

I am applying to several MSN programs including UCLA, but none of them include the BSN. An RN I spoke to yesterday, said I would have to go back to get that because you won't get hired without it!

Hello! You were misinformed by that nurse. The hospital where I am working has a number of entry-level MSNs who were career changers. It's hard to get a job without at least a BSN, but you won't be dinged for having an MSN instead. Talk to the admissions officers at UCLA; they spoke about this during the information session. Good luck with the application process!

I feel very confident after attending an information session because ... Specifically Rhonda as well as the students had emphasis that it was not difficult to get a job with this program and degree. This program is where I would really like to be! Contact the admission officers!

Thanks!!! I was really worried about this because what the RN said to me made absolutely no sense:)

Hi! Has anyone completed their application yet? If so, received an email with a status on it?

I just submitted and I received an email that said "Thank you for submitting your UCLA Application for Graduate Admission!

UCLA Graduate Division "

That's all I got.

Hii, Okay just wondering! Guess the waiting game begins now!

hello future nurses.... a good friend of mine introduce me to this site.... and I'm applying to the MECN program as well... I'm super nervous and excited at the same time.. I'm so stress about my state of purpose essay.. i feel like its a huge factor/criteria when selecting who's In and who's out... since there is no interview process.. are you guys doing ok with your state of purpose?

I am doing okay with mine. I am still having a few professors and peers read it to make it better but besides that I have it written and typed up. I plan to submit my app at the latest on the 15th. My letters of recs should be done by then too.

It is definitely a huge factor. I started mine last year and it took me about 13 edits. The school I graduated from they wanted every little thing to be perfect. I took it to different people and they all had different opinions so I just meshed all the good things from each person into one--cohesively. lol. I already submitted my application, I think my SOP was great, but then again I am not a part of the admissions team so who knows what they will think! :/ I'm also nervous.

@rinamarie @katheaven... I started mine bout around January.. lots of edits and ideas..etc and everything.. i let my co-workers, my boss, professors and even my partner to read it.. i need much critique as possible.. this is very hunger games... are you guys also applying somewhere else? just in case.. you know.. plan B...
