Hi- Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program for next fall?
I do find the whole process very interesting. One of the programs I applied to was due on January 15th. They have already conducted interviews and selected their new cohort. They actually emailed everyone to interview one day and notified rejections the next day (no interview) - very efficient and non-stressful. Those who did interview were notified of status within 1 week of the interview. Another is in the middle of interviews and will select within 2 weeks of them being completed (mid March). And another has been doing interviews since mid January and should be notifying folks any day now, with a "no later than" date of 3/14. 600 applications are a lot to wade through for 2 people I suppose!
Congrats to your friend getting into UCSF! I hope she is committing!
UCLA is my only choice as well so i can't imagine that tough position. Giving up a sure thing (UCSF) for a maybe at UCLA would make me very nervous! Especially since I read through the forums from past years and it seems to be unclear what exactly UCLA wants. Many that seemed overqualified did not get in and some that didn't have ton of experience/perfect grades did. Good Luck to everyone and hang in there. I just want to know either way so i can get ready to attend OR get ready to reapply :)
Just to add to what amaiasmom wrote - I emailed someone at the Admissions office this AM to tell him my grade (I am finishing Physiology in 2 weeks) and he replied
Applications are still under review, so we'll wait until you complete the course to add the grade. You may find out on your admission status around the same time.
So I guess we need to take a deep breath, RELAX and "Let it go" (OMG too much "Frozen" on the Oscars last night...) Good luck everyone!

UCLA is the only school I applied to, but I'm curious...what about people who applied and were accepted to other schools? My friend got her acceptance letter from UCSF by the end of last month and is expected to commit by Friday or lose her spot to someone else. Pretty frustrating. Thanks amaiasmom for the update though!
