UCLA MECN Fall 2014?

Published

Hi- Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program for next fall?

TLeeM, which dept are you in this time? I am in L&D.

I have been in the ER for LAC+USC since August. In January I added another 4 hour shift so now I split my time on Tuesdays between an Orthopedic clinic run by PA's and the larger ER. What hospital are you at?

I have only epidemiology to take, do you think they'll figure out the acceptances first? From what I've heard, they usually send out an acceptance and make you take epidemiology the summer before as that's not the usual pre-reqs nursing programs require.

Did anyone else already take an Epidemiology class? I took it at CSULB before I graduated since I needed it for my major at the time. I'm glad it was equivalent.

I took an epidemiology class at UCSD but it didn't transfer. Kind of frustrating but it's cool. If you have prereqs in progress you have to send them an updated transcript as soon as grades are posted. I'm assuming if you don't get in the classes you need, but you are accepted you get replaced with a waitlister?

@biglittlev

Well at least you'll know what to expect when you take Epidemiology since you are familiar with it since you took a similar class at UCSD (: At the time I was worried mine wouldn't transfer either... but I'm glad I checked just in case.

i took epidemiology a year and half ago at UCI

When did you take it at UCSD biglittleev??? That is where i took mine and it transferred. I had to remind the admissions committee i had taken it but once i did they responded by telling me my only pre-req was Physiology.

Just Anatomy left for me but I won't be done until May.

I think I took it in 2007. Forgot the name of the class. It's cool, I didn't want to do anything with my summer anyways!

Oh, TLeeM, I thought you were in the Care Extender Program at UCLA! I'm at UCLA SM this rotation in that program.

Just to add to what others are saying... I emailed the SON to ask whether I should submit a transcript since I just finished a class and also when they would be sending letters:

"Let’s wait until the admission decisions go out, applications are currently under review right now. After we’ll be able to update your application with the new completed prerequisites. We’re telling those who ask towards the end of the month but hopefully before then."
