  1. Did you take the antivirals in your situation?
  2. So I was starting an IV on a homeless patient who mainly smokes meth but has injected it before. I noticed blood on the tubing but thought it was just from the needle - like blood leaking out from the flash back that got on my glove. I finished and took off my glove and noticed blood on my thumb. I thought I had a hole in my glove and that it was the patients. I washed my hands and found out it was actually my blood and that my thumb was bleeding! The IV has a safety cap that automatically engages. I wasnt sure of the situation so I reported it. Occupational health wants to treat it as a needle stick just to be safe. They want me to start two meds - truvada and isentress Thinking back I remember squeezing the CHG applicator to activate it and I remember my thumb hurting... I wonder if there was a piece of plastic that punctured my thumb. Cause I honestly don’t recall feeling anything sharp on my thumb while I had the needle out. And I was just starting a routine IV. It wasn’t a high adrenaline situation with a crashing trauma patient either. But for the life of me I really can’t see how I got a needle stick tho cause I got the flash, advanced the cath with my pointer, pulled out the needle that was auto capped with the safety and I tossed it on the Mayo stand. So if I wasn’t pregnant I’d be fine taking the month long anti virals the occupational health doctor prescribed to me. But I am 8 weeks pregnant and I’m afraid to take them. and the patient refused to give consent for hiv/hep testing... thoughts? I have reached out to my OB but waiting for a response.
  3. Transcripts are ridiculously expensive. Starting May 1st, UCI will charge $17 for each one. its outrageous.
  4. Happy Easter! Hopefully we'll hear from UCLA tomorrow... "may the odds be ever in your favor."
  5. UCLA sucks at getting out decisions....it only took UCI 15 days to go thru ~300 apps of transfer/change of major/2nd bacc students. Apps were due Dec. 3rd and e-mails went out Dec. 18th. UCLA, you've had 6 months!
  6. Still no news for me. looks like ill be attending UCI for nursing school. UCI is a respectable school but I'm bummed its not UCLA. Gonna go shopping to fill my broken heart/soul now. Le sighhhhh.
  7. still no change and I'm starting to lose hope... T_T
  8. no change in my status either.
  9. i had a dream last night that I got into UCLA. Q_Q
  10. i got into UCI's BSN program and i had to accept their offer on Jan 2nd. thankful that i UCI doesn't need me to put down a deposit :)
  11. I got into UCI's BSN program with 1 C. UCI requires at least B's in all prereqs not taken at UCI. I got a C first semester and an A second semester of General Chemistry at a CC. They just told me that they averaged the 2 grades for an overall B in GenChem.
  12. i got an e-mail from UCLA and totally thought i was gonna get rejected since those are supposedly done only online. Turns out it was just an e-mail about enrolling for summer session. what a troll.
  13. i just want to know already!!!!!!
  14. I only applied to UCI and UCLA. I turned in UCI's app on Dec 2nd and found out I got accepted on Dec. 19th. UCI is pretty freaking fast
  15. i took epidemiology a year and half ago at UCI
