UCF 2017 Accelerated Nursing Program

Published

Hello,

My name is Yuan and I am applying for UCF 2017 Accelerated Nursing Program. I noticed that there was a thread every year on this forum for applicants to share their status and progress after application. So this is what this thread is for.

As for me, I have

Teas: 85.3% ( I might take it again at the beginning of January)

Overall GPA :3.56 ( it's not great:( )

Prerequisite GPA: 4.0

Good luck!

Awesome keep posted over here if you hear anything please! :)

Has anyone on the waitlist received any emails yet? Wondering if march 14th was a strict deadline..

It was a "strict" deadline, but with that being said, people will always forfeit their seats up to the beginning of the program. I remember them saying at open house that they will call waitlisters up until the first week of classes. People forfeit their seats for all sorts of reasons.

If you were accepted and wanted to hold your seat, the 14th is a strict deadline, yes.

Any other waitlisted people get conditional acceptance emails today?!

Yes, I'm in!!!

Yes, I'm in!!!

Same! In shock! Congratulations :)

Congrats to you too!! Looking forward to meeting all of you:)

Hello,

I'll soon be graduating with a Bachelors in another field. Next year I intend to apply for the accelerated program, but in the mean time I'd like to get the prerequisites out of the way, most of which I have B's in. Part of me wonders if I should retake those.

I'm wondering if I were to complete my prerequisites at community college would that be an issue with transferring those credits? Does anyone know how that works?

Hello! I completed most of my prerequisites at community college because $$ and schedules tend to be much more flexible. Especially when it's not our first rodeo. If you're in Florida (or most states) your CC credits should transfer right into the university for the equivalent course number.

There are sometimes some classes that can be similar but are actually different courses so you have to double check names, credit hours and that there was the lab component but in general, yes you should be totally fine doing prereqs for nursing school at CC. Medical school adcoms are a whole different ballgame and often don't like CC credits but that's another topic entirely :cat:

I hope that helped. Good luck with your journey!

Hey Kat,

Community college credits are fine for prereqs. I took most of mine at Seminole state college or Daytona state college and got accepted into ucf accelerated program.

If you want into ucf's program next year, they look at 4 categories only, and a computer program cycles through the applicants to decide who gets in (no human aspect at all). The four categories are overall cumulative GPA, prereq science GPA, prereq non science GPA, and TEAS. To have a good chance of acceptance they recommend at least being above the average for 3 categories. If above average in all four you will get in for sure. Three is still great though. I was above in only 2 but was waitlisted and then accepted thankfully. One other note is that I was told by an advisor at ucf that the science prereq GPA and TEAS are the two heaviest weighted out of the four, and those were the two I was above the average for.

Old acceptance statistics can be found by a simple Google search

If you have any more questions feel free to pm me anytime!

Good luck!

Droot & Lanntis, thank you for answering my questions.

Does anyone know if they're using Teas 5 or 6 for testing? I'm a bit confused. I've seen some forums mentioning the Teas 5.

I'm also thinking about purchasing this to prepare:

ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition

Since the TEAS 6 was released last August (I believe?) that is the only version you will be able to even register for. The TEAS 5 is still applicable for the people who took it 2 years ago or less.
