UCF 2010-2011 accelerated nursing program

Published

I am applying and have requested all my transcripts, I did decent on the Teas test with an 86. Undergrad gpa 3.45, pre req 4.0

I went to the info session last month it was a bit of a pain :angryfire to sit through just to get the application passcode because of all the redundant you should do some research if your serious questions lol.

I am excited and hope to get in to move forward with my life goals of community health nursing.

I am also applying to UNF's program too. Their website is really detailed with everything I ever wanted to know. One of the few schools that have their stuff together.

britt & molly,

Are you talking about the book package for the summer?

I made an amazon link to all the books we need. We sure need a lot of stuff from Elsevier publisher.

WTH is the ATI package?

I am thinking that it is a preparation package for the NCLEX..

If you login to ATI and then look at products you will see a preparation package that they have listed for $250..

I am thinking this is it. It probably includes the two items that are on our book list. This is just an educated guess though!!

I am bored at work today...which is the reason for all the replies! :yeah:

Yes, based upon the book list that we received last week, there is a package that can be purchased from the bookstore that runs about $860. However, this only includes selected titles, so there are about 10 books that we have to purchase separately. At any rate, the package contents can also be purchased separately online and the price seems to be significantly lower than what is offered at the bookstore. Again, I just don't know if we get access to the online materials that accompany the hard-copy books.

For all of you who purchased your stethoscopes separately...did you choose the classic, light weight, or something else? Are we allowed to pick a different color?

I haven't heard of any restrictions on the color. Based upon what can be purchased with the nurse pack, I think the classic is probably fine. I would recommend getting yours engraved or personalized because I've heard that they can easily be misplaced or borrowed by someone else and then you're out $70-$80 :)

bored at work is an understatement LOL. I will not fork over $860 for just a few summer books if there is another option.

I'm also bored at work - haha. The book list is for the entire program right?

if you get the one included in the nursing pack you will have no choice in color; you just have to take whatever they bring to the school.

i confirmed with con&& (not mentioning names) that you can buy elsewhere and have whatever color you want. the one that the pack supplier is selling is the littman classic ii but i'm sure if you want an upgrade it will be ok. i heard that the classic light is not as good at picking up minor nuances in bowel and heart sounds as the regular classic ii.

i found a place online that will engrave your name either onto the bell or on the tubing. with shipping and everything else it amounts to a little less than they are selling the school ones for :yeah:

an e-mail just arrived from con&& the kit does not include bandage scissors or forceps; but (as we all know) does include a bp cuff.

The one thing I'm not clear on is whether we have access to the online version of the books when we purchase them outside of the package. The benefit to this seems to be that they allow you to highlight the textbooks and create personalized study guides.

Maybe the each book comes with a CD in the front regardless. I am going to try to research this a bit too because I am curious to know..

I am trying to figure out this book situation as well. I would hate to buy them all separately and end up not having everything I need! I feel like I can't call the nursing office again...I already called once today and got a very annoyed response from someone.

As far as scrubs go...has anyone ordered theirs? Did you get one set of each pant and two white tops? Did you order over the phone or go into the store? I just called the lady to see if I could look at the scrubs/jacket online before ordering and the lady said that wasn't an option.

Sorry for all the questions everyone! I appreciate all the help!

I bought my scrubs today. I got two blue and two white pants and three tops. I wasn't sure how much time we would be wearing them so I may have gone a little overboard. I only bought one jacket though :nurse:

Does anyone know what sort of forceps we need (tubing, sponge, etc.)?
