UCF Accelerated BSN 2011-2012

Published

Anyone else applying? :clown:

So, there's a chance I could still get into UCF for Spring 2012? I applied for Fall but doubt I'll get in that, so I am gonna try for DB or Cocoa for Spring 2012 as long as I can still meet deadline

Yes, there's still technically a chance you could get accepted in the spring (depending on your scores of course). I've heard it's easier to get into the DB and Cocoa programs.

I was waitlisted. Congrats to everyone that got in!

My email also says I need to compete general sociology, and I completed it over the summer. This course requirement shows up as satisfied on my degree audit, so I will have to contact the CON on Monday to try to get it cleared up.

I personally walked in to CON this afternoon and handed in my signed email ... :D

I did ask the lady at the desk about the outstanding requirements noted. She said the emails are computer generated and there is a glich that causes these. She explained also that if one had completed both psych and soc with different grades (as in my case) the system will grab the one with the highest grade to satisfy prereqs and disregard the other but then shows as missing requirement. The FL gen ed message is also a glich for some people who got bachelor's outside of FL. Also, everyone has the background check message. She told me not to worry about it, because I was accepted. By returning the acceptance email signed, you will be added to a mailing list with further instructions on how to proceed with the next steps (i.e, backgrounds, health forms, etc.).

Thanks for the info. I called the CON to see if I could fax the letter in, and they said that was fine, so I faxed it in this morning. Hopefully we will receive some more info soon.

I also faxed the letter in today, even though it was just for the waitlist. I was told by CON that last year they ended up with 20 people on the waiting list and all 20 got in. I hope this is not something they are just telling me to keep my hopes up!! Good luck to all who are interviewing at UNF at the end of this week.

I hate to admit it, but I did hang the phone up on the woman because she kept calling my "dedication" into question! I can't understand how they would expect you to pay $200 before you even know if you want to be in the program. I would like to report that somewhere, but I don't know where. There has to be something wrong with practices like that! Anyway, I don't mind that UCF takes a little longer. I think it is sooooo much cheaper than Remington, but also more competitive, so there are ups and downs to everything I suppose! Lets hope we get into good schools!! :D

"Dedication to what or whom" would have been a great reply to that queen of mean.

Your lack of dedication to put money into Keiser University's pocket for no good reason?

(It was Keiser University lady that said this, wasn't it? surely not a State Accredited University).

Hey Gatorgrad8 - did they tell you what number you are on the waitlist? I think quite a few applicants applied to multiple schools. Fingers crossed for you!

UCF Waitlisted, too, afraid to be marked off if (as in "bye-bye!") if I call and ask where I am on the waitlist... Has anyone dared to ask?

KEISER: You do get $150 of the $200 back if they do not accept you. After phone interview after which I asked questions, though, I truly believe those of us with Bachelor's degrees are better off just going for BSN programs! (For one thing, you are not even permitted to then begin their online RN-BSN program until after you've been working as an RN for six months! And, I've also since read on these boards that you can forget about transferring their credits into a BSN or MSN program, although I haven't confirmed that with Keiser.) I sure wish I hadn't forked over the $200 now.. ouch. :smackingf

Those accepted to UCF are given until March 18 to accept, and then again another required signing by April 1, so I would think there will be some waitlist activity after those 2 dates. As far as transferring credits, if the school is regionally accredited you can transfer credits. If it is nationally accredited you cannot.

I met someone yesterday at the UNF interviews who also got into the UCF ABSN. She said she would accept UNF if she got in there because she would then not have to move from Jacksonville. So, there is hope that at least that seat will open up.

I can't believe I forgot to post here yesterday. I got in to the accelerated program...I also got into UCF accelerated, so I have a big decision to make! Tonight my husband and I are having one last discussion about which school I should attend, and I will be either emailing tonight letting them know that I'm with UNF or I will continue with UCF (already sent back the preliminary acceptance). I'm still very torn about which school to attend :(

P.S. I will be getting an apartment in either Jax or Orlando for during the week, so I will be looking for roommates in the program!

Hey - good for you! I take it you are part of the UCF facebook group - maybe you can keep us updated there too!
