UC Davis Nurse Residency Program - Fall 2021

Hello,

Applications are open for the fall start of the Nurse Residency at UC Davis. I wanted to start the forum to discuss what unit(s) applicants are interested in, where are you from, etc. I submitted my application already and if anyone has any questions regarding the process, I'd be happy to help.

It is routed for further consideration, and I specified NICU.

I don't think that matters because I know someone in the cohort behind me who was a December grad got hired on in this residency program for the Spring cohort with limited clinical hours. I think its just slow moving and the process is partial to the unit. Hope you get some news soon ❤️

Congrats!! How did you find that out - did your status change on the portal to something different from "routed further for consideration", or did the department contact you directly?

I haven't been called yet, just says routed for further consideration. I talked to one of my friends who is the manager there for respiratory therapy and she said our applications get pushed through to managers who have a spot for a resident. So hopefully we get a call soon and it's for our unit of choice ?

I never got routed for NICU, I’m heartbroken ? On the bright side I passed my NCLEX this weekend so all hope is not lost, haha. Best of luck everyone!!

Has anyone received an offer? I was routed to hiring department, but have yet to receive an interview invite. Trying to decide when I should accept I will not be considered for August.

Nope still waiting to be called. Fingers crossed. The people that I know receiving interviews have been student externs for Davis so far.

I talked to an old friend of mine who works at UC Davis Health and she confirmed that you absolutely need to have added certain keywords from the job description into your resume/cover letter so I have accepted that I will not be considered.
