UC Davis New Grad 2018

Published

Hey guys! There doesn't seem to be a thread yet for the UCD new grad program (application opened today) so I thought I would start it. I filled out the application today and it seemed very basic in terms of new grad apps (no place to request certain units) and I was a little worried about the document attachment section. In the beginning of the application there is a page to attach our one document resume with all the necessary materials (resume, transcripts, cover letter, etc). I attached a PDF, and it said it successfully attached, but there is no way to go back and review the upload so of course i'm stressing over whether it was really attached! :) If anyone else wants to chime in with their experience I would be grateful. And good luck everyone!

The same thing happened to me! I was scared that it didn't attach.

Thanks for creating this thread! In regards to requesting departments, it seems like last year's thread also had the same problem with no option in the application. Some people called HR and they said to just address it in the cover letter. Unfortunately for some of us, placements seem to be based off of our senior preceptorship (but we'll still be considered for our desired units). Has anyone attached other documents besides what's required (cover letter, resume, unofficial transcripts)? I'd like to add my reference letters but I'm afraid it will be frowned upon if they don't want more than what's needed. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it doesn't let you view your attachment right after you attach it. :( But you can view it on the page after you submit the application, under the "Full Text Resume" tab. You may have to disable pop-up blocker in order for it to come up. Good luck everyone!

Hey guys! Same thing happened to me. I wasn't able view it after I submitted. I was thinking it didn't even attach so I uploaded another time and it did the same thing. Have ya'll heard anything about when we start hearing?

Hi, just applied to the program last week. Went to nursing school in Nevada and am wanting to come home to Sacramento. I was sketched out by the application process as well, couldn't go back to view or edit at all. Also considered adding references but figured they wanted those during interviews? I have a job offer in Washington DC but I want to come back to my hometown. I have to sign my DC contract on 01/12, Im nervous thats not enough time for UC Davis to make offers:(

Hello all,

Thank you for creating this thread! Just put in my application last week too, best of luck to us all. Will stay posted on this thread!

Has anyone heard when they might start calling people? Not feeling super optimistic, but I'm traveling out of the country after graduation in 2 weeks and wouldn't want to miss a potential phone call. Also, does anyone know if they are doing an OR program again this year? I saw in the past that it was a separate application. Thanks!

Thanks for making this thread!

I graduate this December and applied as well! I just checked my application and it still says "020-applied." I figure with the Thanksgiving holiday and knowing that UCD gets so many applications, I'm not going to really start worrying about a call for another week at least.

I am curious how you guys preferenced the unit(s) you want though... I have heard it is strongly based on senior practicum placement, and that if you do a floor preceptorship your l app will only be sent to floor unit managers and if you do an ICU preceptorship, your app will only be sent to ICU managers... I'm interested in critical care and thankfully got my practicum on an ICU, so my fingers are crossed. UCD seems like one of the few hospitals still hiring new grads for their ICUs.

Best of of luck everyone!

Hi NewBSN2017 I believe that is the case too because we weren't able to select our units that instead the HR will place us in whatever units they see correlates with our experience. I think they will start contacting for interview mid December to end of December, but that's only from what I heard.

Hello All, Thank you for making this thread!

I heard the process can sometimes go into January. I had a friend who applied this time of year a few years back, and they called her for an interview mid January. Good luck to everyone. I'll be eager to hear your updates.

Hi guys,

I'm getting worried... almost been a month since I applied and it still doesn't say routed! Has anyone's status changed to routed??

thanks!
