Hi everyone!
I'm starting this new thread for those interested in applying to UC Davis's Master's Entry Program Summer 2021 program. Hoping this will be a space where we all can ask questions/connect.
Hope you are all staying healthy!
So when they say something is highly recommended, is that a hint that it is necessary? I took Intro to Chemistry way back, I passed with a C and would like to not revisit the class. I am currently retaking A&P and Micro. I sent in transcripts and they said that Intro was acceptable, but they strongly recommend General Chemistry. Should I retake General next semester and apply for entry in 2022?
Also, I did verify they you must have all three communications covered including: group(Interpersonal communication or something comp), written (English 101 works fine), and verbal (Public Speaking or something comp).
Just FYI I already have a Masters Degree in another field. Anyone going back to school in a career change?
Also, anyone know of anyone doing this program with a newborn? Family planning questions.
My stats:
I have a B.S in Public Health
3.59 GPA w/ 3.5 Prereq GPA
Not sure about my total volunteer hours but I have a lot of experience working with various communities. I was a medical intern in Peru, intern at a birth center, peer health educator and I’ve been working as a community health worker over the Summer.
super nervous because I don't think my personal statement was that good. What did everyone write about?

I feel like they say “highly recommended” because the program is competitive. So if you have a better grade in Chemistry it may make your application more competitive. However, I spoke with a current a UC Davis MEPN student and they said that the admissions team looks at you application as a WHOLE and grades are not everything. They said that students GPA who got accepted into the program ranged from a 3.2 GPA to a 3.9 GPA. Maybe you got a C in Chemistry but you have awesome experience and a killer personal statement!
goodluck to you.

I wrote mainly about my experiences but I can help read it if you send it to my email :)

Just received the same email as well, very disappointed. Last year I was waitlisted and this year they sent out the email very early. I waited until the last day of November to receive an email to be invited to the next application.

THIS HAPPENED TO ME TOO! So happy I am not alone. I submitted my application on time, but one of my transcripts did not arrive until a few days later. It sucks because this transcript is from a community college where I only took a history course to fulfill a graduation requirement.
They told me the same thing. I think its a bit odd that they said: "cannot guarantee a review" like... you either can or you can't review it. I'm hoping for the best. Keep me updated on your status!!
