Hey everyone! I wanted to ask whether you have received a confirmation email from the school of nursing after you submitted your application. My application was verified almost 2 weeks ago and haven't received a confirmation email from UCD. Wondering if any of you received it or not?

Thanks!

I submitted my apps on 7/20 and did not receive a confirmation from UCD either.

It looks like the last prerequisite on the UC Davis MEPN website is listed as "Communication (must include group, verbal and written principles)". The "group" portion of this prerequisite is satisfied by a public speaking course. I'm not sure if there are other courses that would satisfy this or not. Technically, you need three courses to satisfy the communication prerequisite. One for group (e.g. public speaking course), one for verbal (e.g. interpersonal communication) and one for written (e.g. University writing). At least that's what I did.

I see where I was confused now! Public speaking falls under the verbal communication requirement and some schools offer equivalent classes that UCD nursing accepts. We can see some of those under the sample prerequisites section. I got worried for a little bit, but thank you for letting me know ?

I used assist.org and UC Davis’s sample prerequisites, which is linked below their list of prerequisites, to match my classes to the requirements. I took these courses at Sierra College in Rocklin.

Under communication prerequisites it notes group, verbal *and written principles. I included a screen shot of it stating public speaking as part of the verbal, not group requirement. It's also separated on NursingCAS when you fill out the app, it gives you an opportunity to fill in 3 different courses for the overall communication requirement. If you submitted your app without filling in a public speaking, or something similar, you must have opted out for assigning a course. I’m unsure if this will still place you in the running for the program because from my understanding, the change from last year and how the prerequisites were laid out, it seemed like you needed 3 different classes. I never actually contacted the program so I very well could be wrong.

Hope this helps!

Hello everyone, last year I applied to the program and was added to the waitlist after the second round. I did not have a verbal communication course last year and this year as well, I just opted out of that section. I had emailed the program last year asking what classes I needed and they said that verbal communication was strongly encouraged but not required.

In my case, I looked at the UCD sample since I took most of my prerequisites there. Under the verbal communication section, they accept two courses to fulfill that requirement. Luckily I had already taken one of them and entered it on NursingCAS! I noticed from the sample you uploaded that Interpersonal Communication is under the verbal section. On the UCD sample, it's under the group communication section which is interesting! Maybe courses differ from school to school even though they have the same class title ?

Hi guys!

I submitted my application for UC Davis' program but one of my transcripts did not come in on time. I took a 5 week Summer course at a community college to complete my sociology prerequisite last month. Unfortunately, the professor put grades in over a week late and I was not able to submit my transcript until the Thursday before the deadline. The transcript has still not been marked "received" and when I emailed Davis explaining the situation they told me "they cannot guarantee a review" of any apps that lack complete transcripts by the Aug 1st deadline.

This is my first time applying so I am concerned and nervous about the whole process. Does anyone have experience with what they do in this situation? Thank you!

Unfortunately my application did not work out. They told me at the last minute I needed to add colleges and transcripts even if I received no degree and did not take prereqs there. One of the colleges has since closed so I ran out of time. Best of luck to you all!

Ugh just saw that my professor didn't send in his recommendation letter. We spoke about it before so I was really hoping for a strong letter on his behalf. Guess I'll be trying again next year.. GOod luck to everyone waiting back from Davis!
