Just wanted to start a thread to see who is applying to this program and be able to share updates!
Hey HOPESAXON5
I have kind of similar experiences I completed my undergrad from UCDAVIS with Human Development major. I am currently working as an MA. Also I have volunteer experience of about year. I want to be NP too and also worked with children with mental problems and elder adults with Alziemers and dementia. Is there any other route you can think of to be NP.
Hi gulnazk1991,
Wow, we do have similar experiences in the field, and it seems like you've got some wonderful work under your belt! As far as becoming an NP without getting another bachelor's degree, there are some programs that offer direct-entry masters and prepare you to take the licensing exams for RN after one year and then use the next couple of years prepare you to get a master's degree, and after you graduate you can take the licensing exams for NP. Off the top of my head, some of those programs are:
University of Hawaii
Simmons College
Samuel Merritt
Massachussetts General Hospital Institute
University of Massachussetts, Worcester
Seattle University
Regis College
Northeastern
Azusa Pacific
There are many more, but I hope this helps even a little!
If you were to do this program at UC Davis, or the similar program at UCLA, you would have a Master's in nursing when you graduate, and could become a RN, but as far as I understand you would need to complete extra schooling (usually 1-2 years) in order to become a NP! There are even online schools that offer NP programs so that you can be getting on the job experience as a RN and using your MSN degree while studying for your next degree!
Hi guys! I did some sleuthing and it looks like emails to move to the second round came out on November 13th last year. So if they follow the same pattern we could hear about the second round as early as two weeks! This will require applying to UC Davis graduate admissions with more essays and potential interviews. Then we could hear as early as Christmas, but most heard around January 13th in 2018.
I'm so nervous about hearing back. Is this the number one choice program for anyone else?
