Hello :)
Anyone else applying for UBC's September 2014 intake? If so, let's get through this process by communicating with each other!
So I have now been accepted to Kwantlen's Post Baccalaureate program and the admissions advisor would like me to let her know and pay the $600 deposit by Friday!! So, this is pretty stressful and potentially expensive as I feel I have a good chance at getting into UBC now. Amsamps or Ogarmankelsey would you be able to check in with admissions to see if we have moved up the wait list yet? I would do it but I already checked in on Monday and we hadn't moved yet. On the bright side at least I know now that I will be attending nursing school somewhere in September.
Well first off, congratulations! That's very exciting. You're one step closer to becoming a nurse! I actually emailed on Monday as well but haven't heard back yet so I feel bad emailing again.. She may be waiting until there is movement to inform me so I'll keep you all posted as soon as I hear back. Again, congratulations. That's awesome news for you.
Thank you amsamps, it is exciting! But, UBC is still my first choice so I am still hoping to get in there. I totally understand about not wanting to bombard UBC admissions and I think you are right about her waiting for some movement to happen before she responds to you. Just keep my posted when she does:) I have asked KPU for a short extension on the deposit, but I don't know if the timing will work out. Worse case scenario I secure my spot at KPU and then IF I do get into UBC I will be out a deposit (well actually two because I secured a spot elsewhere as well), I am sure I am not the only one in this situation. I think it is all just part of the game of getting into nursing school, what a system!
I just emailed again yesterday as I needed to ask them if they had received my transcripts from the head office....I spoke to someone in enrollment services and they said they were received on May 28th and sent to my other program I got accepted to (the BSFN) and they should be available for UBC Nursing to look at ..... hopefully they have as I don't want to be considered late on my transcript submission and then my application is disqualified! I'm sure it'll be fine though.... this is a great way to practice our patience
Hi STAR LITE and amsamps! Good news! I am now #3 on the waitlist (started at #15) so I believe amsamps is now #2 and Star lite is #5....yay! So freaking close! This is torture but good for the character building exercise, haha. I'll let you know if I get accepted next week (when tey get all the transcripts in, etc.).
Hi Everybody!
I have been a silent follower for this thread and I have to admit, the process has been a little less nerve racking with everyone's input on tips, interview notifications, and finally offers now.
I just wanted to say that I was #12 on the waitlist and yesterday afternoon, I finally received my admissions offer!
For those who are still waiting, don't lose hope! The deadline is June 15th, but you still have a chance till september!
I look forward to meeting all of very soon!
Wow things are really moving fast now :) Asamps and ogormankelsy I have a feeling you will get an offer next week and I may get one a few weeks after that. I agree it is absolute torture, I mean we are all supposed to be resting up for nursing school but the uncertainty of this all is making it hard. Things are especially stressful at the moment because I also have another offer and have to decide. I know that UBC would be a better program, but in a way I am leaning towards my other option because I have the opportunity to work more. I got an extension on the deposit for that one so I have until Tuesday to decide. Thanks for reporting back as amps and ogormankelsey. The uncertainty will be over soon!
Hi STAR LITE,
I am not sure of your financial situation, but for peace of mind I would confirm at both. If I was in that position that is what I would do. Too bad it is $600 - that is a lot of money!
Hoping to hear sometime this week if I got in or not, after they go through all the transcripts and wait to receive them all, etc. and find out who is in and who is out! I am sure that there will be 3 people who either didn't pay their deposit or didn't get their transcripts in time, so fingers are crossed!

Hey future UBC peeps! Just an FYI - you can be offered a seat up until first day of classes. Last year one of my classmates was offered a seat the day before classes started so she made an impromptu move to Vancouver. Don't give up hope if you are still wait listed after June 15th (or whatever the deposit deadline is this year)
Enjoy the rest of your summer! (seriously - enjoy it, bask in it, read for fun, hang out with friends, whatever floats your boat because come september, it's going to get a little hectic)
