UBC September 2014 Applicants
I spoke with UBC this week and they let me know that we will find out about our practicum placements the first week of September. It looks like we will submit our first 3 choices and they will try to work with that, but cannot guarantee anything. The placements can either be weekday or weekend. 1 month left to rest up before this journey begins :)

Hello all, I hope everybody's registration was successful this morning. Does anybody know when we find out where our clinical placements are?

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Nursing Post-Baccalaureate Program
In regards to the career opportunities for the bsn-PB vs the 4 year, I believe they are trying to show that the PB has more advanced career opportunities available like educator and management in comparison the the 4 year Bsn. If that is true or not, I'm really not sure. As for the 4 people enrolled in the final semester I believe that would be the original cohort and it IS a bit worrisome. I

Douglas College Psychiatric Nursing 2014
I agree, it is hard to judge a school by one opinion. However, I believe there is a big difference in the quality of education between public and private schools - Sprott Shaw and Stenberg are private. I am declining my spot to Douglas RPN for September 2014 because I was accepted to UBC. It is shame because I have actually wanted to do the RPN program for about 10 years now, but waiting an entire year after being accepted is too long. I am a mature student so I want to finish sooner than later. One spot will open up on the wait list for a lucky individual :) @Kirota, you should apply to the Kwantlen Post- Baccalaureate program - it is 27 months and the majority is online.

Douglas College Psychiatric Nursing 2014
Monark, can you tell me a little about why Stenberg sucks? I have a friend who is contemplating taking the program there as she couldn't get into Douglas after applying several times.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Nursing Post-Baccalaureate Program
I've declined my offer at Kwantlen to accept UBC. It was a tough decision as both programs have strengths. Good luck to everybody in the program.

I also received an offer today :) Looking forward to meeting you all at orientation in August. What an incredible 20 months this will be!

Thank you for the advice ogormankelsey, I agree, I think I have to pay the deposit. Timing is so much in life and I think this example illustrates it perfectly. I emailed UBC admissions today to tell them my situation, but I don't have that much hope that they will get back to me by tomorrow. I imagine it takes a while to process all of the responses and there probably are a bunch of us in a similar position. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.

UBC September 2014 Applicants
Wow things are really moving fast now :) Asamps and ogormankelsy I have a feeling you will get an offer next week and I may get one a few weeks after that. I agree it is absolute torture, I mean we are all supposed to be resting up for nursing school but the uncertainty of this all is making it hard. Things are especially stressful at the moment because I also have another offer and have to decide. I know that UBC would be a better program, but in a way I am leaning towards my other option because I have the opportunity to work more. I got an extension on the deposit for that one so I have until Tuesday to decide. Thanks for reporting back as amps and ogormankelsey. The uncertainty will be over soon!

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Nursing Post-Baccalaureate Program
Thank you Junoboy, I got confirmation from admissions that classes end at 2:00. The kwantlen program sounds great because it is so flexible, but I am a bit nervous about learning nursing online. Can any current students give us feedback as to how it is? Is it possible to learn nursing skills online? Thanks in advance for your input. I am trying to make as informed decision as possible about the program. I have already been accepted into the RPN program at Douglas and am on the wait list for UBC. I would say that a negative aspect to Kwantlen is the price, it will cost about $6000 more than UBC!

Thank you amsamps, it is exciting! But, UBC is still my first choice so I am still hoping to get in there. I totally understand about not wanting to bombard UBC admissions and I think you are right about her waiting for some movement to happen before she responds to you. Just keep my posted when she does:) I have asked KPU for a short extension on the deposit, but I don't know if the timing will work out. Worse case scenario I secure my spot at KPU and then IF I do get into UBC I will be out a deposit (well actually two because I secured a spot elsewhere as well), I am sure I am not the only one in this situation. I think it is all just part of the game of getting into nursing school, what a system!

UBC September 2014 Applicants
So I have now been accepted to Kwantlen's Post Baccalaureate program and the admissions advisor would like me to let her know and pay the $600 deposit by Friday!! So, this is pretty stressful and potentially expensive as I feel I have a good chance at getting into UBC now. Amsamps or Ogarmankelsey would you be able to check in with admissions to see if we have moved up the wait list yet? I would do it but I already checked in on Monday and we hadn't moved yet. On the bright side at least I know now that I will be attending nursing school somewhere in September.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Nursing Post-Baccalaureate Program
I have also just received an acceptance to the program which is great, but I am on the wait list for UBC as well so I am pretty confused about what I should do. I was told by admissions that I have until Friday to decide, but there is no way I will hear from UBC by then. Admissions told me that the deposit was $600. It seems expensive, did everybody pay $600? Does anybody have any information about the orientation dates and times? I'm trying to figure out if it will work with my job. Thanks for your help!

UBC September 2014 Applicants
Thanks fellow wait listers. I'll check in for us next week if we don't hear anything else on the forum. No sense in all of us bombarding the administration with emails:) I feel like the list is moving fast, do you? But, I guess this is the time when it will move the quickest and then it will just be people with last minute changes. I believe most other schools have let people know by now, but we still have till June 15th for people to secure their spot and finish up anatomy and physiology if thats the case. I am now number 8 so there is still quite a bit of movement that needs to happen. What a strange experience this is being a wait lister and not knowing where you will be at with your life in a couple of months. Thank you @amsamps and @ogarmankelsey for all the continuous support on this forum!

Hello wait listers, I spoke with admissions today and I have some good news! Six people have refused their offer already, therefore we all move up 6 spots. I am now number 11, feeling a bit more positive about that! Good luck to us all:)
