Hello :)
Anyone else applying for UBC's September 2014 intake? If so, let's get through this process by communicating with each other!
Thanks fellow wait listers. I'll check in for us next week if we don't hear anything else on the forum. No sense in all of us bombarding the administration with emails:) I feel like the list is moving fast, do you? But, I guess this is the time when it will move the quickest and then it will just be people with last minute changes. I believe most other schools have let people know by now, but we still have till June 15th for people to secure their spot and finish up anatomy and physiology if thats the case. I am now number 8 so there is still quite a bit of movement that needs to happen. What a strange experience this is being a wait lister and not knowing where you will be at with your life in a couple of months. Thank you @amsamps and @ogarmankelsey for all the continuous support on this forum!
Thanks for your support as well! I'm going to call in next week sometime to double check they got my transcripts for when I completed my anatomy course. I got a letter from the nutrition program saying they received it but I'm not sure if it's all connected or each dept is separate? Anyways, I'll ask for my # on the wait list and update here as soon as I find out.
Yes, thank you both! Hopefully we'll be supporting each other in the program soon! I have a good feeling about it all but still practicing my patience and it's not always easy. I do feel like the list is moving fast. It's so difficult to refrain from emailing every day to see if there's been any movement! And @ogormankelsey I'm not sure about your enquiry either but i'd assume it'd be separate so it would be a good idea to call to make sure.

Hi there
No I emailed last week with no response. I am sure they are super busy so I will be patient. I called today and on her voicemail it said to email information@nursing .... or something like that but I didn't write it down. I will call back and get that now that I am done work for the night.
The tuition is due on June 15th I believe so we should know by then what's up. What number are you STAR LITE?
Also at db123 - the one thing I am worried about in Vancouver is the cost of living. It is astronomical, however check out Craigslist for listings as you might find somewhere close by but it won't be cheap. The cheapest is the student housing, but I applied in February and I am wait listed so if you haven't applied for student housing by now you probably won't get in (some of them I am #350 on that wait list) so I am looking for alternatives (shared housing or basement suite for two or three people to share). A few of my girlfriends live near UBC and they pay about $1200 for a one bedroom and my other girlfriends pay about $1750 for a 2 bedroom. I have heard of people renting houses for about $600-1000 each.
I am not sure about UBC nursing graduates, but I work at the hospital with tons of student nurses from UVic/Camosun program and they all find jobs right away. It's pretty difficult not to. It might not be the best job (rotation, crappy hours, not where you want to work in the hospital), but if you aren't picky then you'll find something. My motto is to take what you can and then look for what you want.
Hope that helps and good look to you!
