Hello :)
Anyone else applying for UBC's September 2014 intake? If so, let's get through this process by communicating with each other!
Hello fellow wait listers:). I meticulously looked through UBC's forum for the past years and I came up with the following stats for us:
In 2009: 17 people got off the wait list
In 2010: 15 people got off the wait list
In 2011: 20 people got off the wait list
In 2012: Didn't get a final number, but #13 got off the wait list on June 21st
In 2013: 17 people people got off the wait list.
So, I guess there is hope after all for us. This summer will be a good chance to practice patience and non-attachment. As soon as anybody hears of movement please let us know.
Amsamps and Ogormankelsey have you been accepted to other programs as a back up if UBC doesn't work out? I have been accepted to the psychiatric nursing program at Douglas, but I wouldn't be starting until September of 2015 (I have transferred the credits from first year). I would prefer to get into UBC though as the program is much shorter and in the end I would receive an RN rather than a RPN. Although I feel I will continue to work in psychiatric care it would be nice to have more options if I do want to change in the future.
For those that have already been accepted, has anyone already booked their immunization review? I'm working to try and get all my records together, but I'm wondering if the first review with UBC is just to see what you are missing or if I should try and get up-to-date on everything before my first meeting. I grew up in Ontario, so I think there are a couple differences in immunization schedules. If we are not up-to-date, will we get all the required shots from UBC Student Health Services, or will we need to book in with our family doctors to do this? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a little confused on the process - particularly because I'm missing quite a few immunizations and records. Anyone else that grew up in Ontario having this problem?
I was accepted to the 3rd year nutrition program majoring in dietics as a back up. It is hard though because I really like my job right now (I am a Mental Health Support Worker at Royal Jubilee Hospital) but I think I need to continue on with my education. I was also accepted to the psychiatric nursing program but at Steinberg College (to do it online) but I agree I had the same choice regarding the RPN designation not having as much benefits for RN. I want to work in other countries one day and having an RPN would severely limit this as most other countries wouldn't recognize it. There are so many jobs in mental health and I know so many fabulous RPNs, but I don't know if I want to work in mental health forever so I had to really think about this and decided the the RN route was better for me. I was also thinking of eventually doing the Nurse Practitioner program at UBC in the future and I don't think you can do the NP program if you are an RPN. I think we have a similar thought process going on!

UPDATE - If you contact the region/school board of where you went to high school, they can send you a full immunization record as it would have been submitted in order to attend school. Plus any school immunizations will be recorded there.
Hi everyone, I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I'm trying to apply for the 2015 intake.
I'm just wondering if you guys can provide me with any information on the supplemental package? There isn't much information on the UBC website and looking online, the only information I have found is to write (x words) about your volunteering experience. Can anyone expand on this? Thanks!

Hi all!
Just checking in! Has anyone on the reserve list been offered a spot or been told that you've moved up?
