  1. Don't freak out! If you are on this forum, you are already doing something right. I don't know how they score the interviews, but I have to think it comes down to how you present yourself. If you are friendly, professional, show empathy for others, and think critically about your answers, you are looking pretty good. Check out this document for more info about MMIs - https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=tQ0rVf3PM9jkoAS7tYDgCg&url=http://www.nursing.ubc.ca/PDFs/Using_multiple_mini-interviews.pdf&ved=0CCAQFjAC&usg=AFQjCNHCCKu3-ZvvWuFYen4bKHB6qEQLTw&sig2=zxs11CqDgMBEHG5UDhZzYg It has a sample scenario as well, which you may find helpful. Good luck!
  2. Hey! I'm also currently in the program. Best advice I can give to those going for interviews is to read the CRNBC Professional Nursing Standards and Code of Ethics documents. There is really no "right" way to answer questions, but it helps if your answers are based on something other than personal opinion alone. Above all, just be professional. Good luck!
  3. Hey Shoegal22! Let us know how things went at your immunization review. Just wondering what to expect (if you don't mind sharing that is). I haven't booked mine yet as I am still waiting for a couple of documents to arrive. Hey Sparklet15! My acceptance has not appeared on the SSC site either. I thought they said it would appear within 7 days, but it's been more than that now. I'm sure it'll be up soon though. Don't worry, you're not the only one. And finally, dieniare, not sure if you found the answers you were looking for. It might be helpful to go to an info session as they can probably tell you more information and give you an idea of what you are looking for. You can also find info on the supplemental on the FAQ section of the UBC nursing website (question 8) - School of Nursing - University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC - Prospective Students. Basically, it's just an extensive resume. By the sounds of it, they do accept a wide variety of backgrounds, so it's all in how you present yourself. Hope that helps!
  4. UPDATE - If you contact the region/school board of where you went to high school, they can send you a full immunization record as it would have been submitted in order to attend school. Plus any school immunizations will be recorded there.
  5. For those that have already been accepted, has anyone already booked their immunization review? I'm working to try and get all my records together, but I'm wondering if the first review with UBC is just to see what you are missing or if I should try and get up-to-date on everything before my first meeting. I grew up in Ontario, so I think there are a couple differences in immunization schedules. If we are not up-to-date, will we get all the required shots from UBC Student Health Services, or will we need to book in with our family doctors to do this? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a little confused on the process - particularly because I'm missing quite a few immunizations and records. Anyone else that grew up in Ontario having this problem?
  6. Ditto! See everyone in August for orientation!
  7. Guess I got the lucky reference check then! But as Kiawa said, I'm pretty sure they are only used to get you to the interview. The only way to go from 190 applicants to 120 is by interview scores.
  8. I know that at least one of my references was contacted before being invited to the interview, so I have to think others were as well. We were told that our acceptance would be 100% based on our interview. Everything before (marks and supplemental) was just to get to the interview stage. Hope that helps!
  9. I took it as the end of next week, not this week. For what it's worth, instead of checking e-mails, I've just been checking the student services site. You can check your application status there. I figure that before they send out the e-mails they have to list us as accepted to declined in our application status, so that should be the most up-to-date. Plus at least you will know for sure the status of your application (i.e. no decision has been made yet) vs. knowing absolutely nothing at all. Not sure if that helps anyone, but makes me feel like I have a little more control. Best of luck to everyone!
  10. It seems so long ago that we had the interviews. Now that my exams are done, all I do is watch this forum and my inbox! I think I need a social life...
  11. And for the record, everything is sent at random. I asked :) No particular reason behind the order in which the emails are sent.
  12. First off, thanks for starting this forum! So nice to not feel alone. I just wanted to post that I just received my interview email. I don't know how they decide who goes first, but I'm in Vancouver and graduated from UBC in HKin. So I don't fit the profile of those before me. Last name is M. I hate to say it, but my guess is its either going out by score or at random. Good luck everyone!
