Hey guys! I just wanted to start this post for anyone applying for the 2022 cycle for UBC nursing. Just wondering where everyone is coming from and their experiences.

Having experience as a healthcare aide will make the nursing program you eventually begin so much more manageable and enjoyable. Having experiences as an aide should really be a requirement.

There are some huge benefits to a full 4 year program over the 2 year accelerated programs. 2 years just feels way too short.

At #18 you have a very very strong chance of getting an acceptance letter. Best of luck :)

I saw someone explain earlier that the 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's are also group together and compared to each other, which makes a lot of sense. Plus, there are a certain number of seats reserved for indigenous applicants...not sure if there are seats reserved for other types of applicants. This could explain why certain people are higher than others on the waitlist.
If anyone needs help with their supplemental, please feel free to message me. I have a 1 in my supplemental and had a 3 in previous years.
Hi there. Would you mind emailing me as I would love help on my supplemental. This is my second year applying and I didn’t get in. I worked so hard on my supplemental, including peer reviews, and edits. Everyone thought it was great, but I received a ‘3’. It sounds like you made a huge jump on yours going from a ‘3’ to a ‘1’!

Hey everyone! I just wanna say a few things:)
After reading the posts on here over the past couple days, I just wanted to send love and encouragement to everyone who didn't get the results they were hoping for (I mean I technically didn't LOL I'm still waiting on the AL but lets hope that changes). You all sound like amazing people who would make great nurses and who have worked so hard on the application process. University is so hard and I think anyone who suffers through it deserves to pursue the career they choose so I hope that for all of us!
Best of luck to everyone and I hope I can meet some of you one day, whatever nursing school we all end up with. Even if you've tried applying multiple times, don't give up even though its really defeating to have to wait a whole year to apply again.
Also- its crazy to me that Canada has a huge shortage for nurses, yet the nursing programs are so hard to get into (I think we had like 800 applicants??) and by the sounds of it most of the other nursing programs are just as competitive.

Also, can I ask what courses you took at Langara to boost your GPA?
yes 4th via CASPer for this application cycle and 3rd rank for UBC in the previous application cycle. I took BIOL1190&1191, PSYC1115, and ENGL1130 as pre-reqs for Langara and BCIT’s nursing program.

your results don't make sense to me! I scored 3rd via Casper and received 2nd rank for UBC. How are they ranking us?? Shouldn't you have received 1st rank for UBC?

From what I understand, CASPER results include all nursing CASPer applicants (so this would include people applying to other schools). So there would be some wiggle room between quartiles.
I scored a 4th quartile with CASPer (1 on UBC’s scale), but got a 2 on my AL list letter. So I took that as there are more competitive applicants to UBC, so the quartiles are skewed down a bit (so some of us are in different quartiles).
This is just what I am getting from it though, so I could definitely be wrong!
Last year I scored in the bottom quartile for CASPer and this year I improved my score a fair bit by not studying at all this year, so take the CASPer with a grain of salt (I know I felt pretty bummed last year when I tanked it). It’s just a test after all, it does not see inside of you like they might try to make it seem.

How was BIOL 1190&1191? I've been taking classes at Langara even though I've already done the HAP. With whom did you take those classes?

You don't need to worry about the CPR or N95 requirements...only the course requirements like Human Anatomy and Physiology. All the other requirements are outlined in the acceptance email.
