Hello,
I've just got a quick question for you all today. On thursday I was given an interview for the Accelerated BSN program at UBC. The interview is set for this monday, and at present I'm frantically trying to prepare for the interview. I was wondering if you could give me some feedback as to the interview itself....ie questions, number of interviewers...etc.
Thank you so much for your help.
Darrell
Congratulations to you too. It seems the competition was very high, so getting accepted is really something. This was my first time applying and I'm mighty glad I got in on the first try. I don't know if I would have re-applied if I had not been accepted. An experienced RN told me that, in the workplace, UBC nursing grads are not as highly regarded as BCIT nurses, so I was actually thinking of trying BCIT if UBC rejected me. Now that UBC has accepted me, I couldn't be happier because I'd rather do 2 years than 4 and UBC is more internationally recognized than BCIT. Anyway, UBC was my first choice.
Sorry, I don't know anyone who has gone through the UBC program. I guess the program is so intense that once people start it, they don't get time for anything else (surfing and posting on the web included).
See you in class.
wow, is this forum from two years ago? this is in the year of 2008 and i think ubc has changed the format of interviewing nurses who want to enter the two-year program and i heard it's much more intense...anyone with 2007 experience of the interview? does it resemble 8 sessions of 8-minute interviews?

I also was wondering if anyone has any experience of the new type of interview session and how to prepare for it.
I wonder if anybody else is still posting here. I just got a notice for interview for september intake. I know ubc is doing the 2 hour interview with 8 different interview rooms, and an essay at the end. I am wondering if it was the same last year, and whether it was difficult. My GPA is not that strong, and I don't know whether even after the interview GPA will still be considered?
HELP!
Hi Uncage_me!
I also got notice that I have been invited to the interview in late April. I am not sure either, if people still post and use this website, but it would definately be helpfull! I am kind of scared about the interview, don't really know what to expect, so if anyone has any information, that would be awesome.
If they do not change the format of the interview, it should be the same as last year's : http://www.nursing.ubc.ca/News/News_Item.aspx?id=59
Hi simplicitygirl,
Thanks for the website, it definately gave some detailed information. Just another couple question if you don't mind...were the series of interview questions almost similar, like the scenerio questions? were the interviewers intimidating at all? is there an essay to write at the end? is it necessary to dress up like how you would dress for a job interview?
Thanks so much!
Sorry but I don't know the finer details...I know as much as the website tells me. This is my first time applying too...I got lucky and was able to google that page up. Keep in mind that that's last year's interview, so some of the finer details may have changed. As for dress code, I'm going with the semi formal look.
