UBC BSN September 2017

Hi Everyone!

I've been searching for a thread for applicants to UBC's BScN program for September 2017, but I haven't found one. Please feel free to point me in the direction of an existing thread, or add to this one! I'm applying to UBC, U of T, and UWO for September, but UBC is definitely my first choice. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Hello!! I am going through the exact same thing. I emailed CASPer and let them know, I will keep you updated if I get a reply. If you figure something out, can you tell me as well :)

This is actually the first time ubc has required the casper test as well. The only adevice I can give you without breaking the confidentiality agreement is not to study or prepare for it. I studied for weeks and it honestly did not help one bit. The questions are situation based and there is no way you can prepare for them. Your life experiences throughout your whole life and personality traits are what prepares you for the test.

Sorry I read that wrong. I meant to say I applied to both programs and both require the CASPer test. But, since I already did one CASPer test for UBC, it will not let me register for Camosun's. If anyone is going through the same thing, let me know :)

I think you can only write one casper test. You have to select to distribute it to Camosun as well as ubc.

Agreed with bcastle. I tried preparing by reviewing some MMI style questions, but to me it wasn't much help at all. I answered what came to my mind first, that's all you have time for (maybe a few seconds of brainstorming tops) and I think that's the purpose of the test. I barely had time to hit backspace, lol! I'm very curious to know how they grade our answers (and how they review our applications too). Wish I could be that fly on the wall.

I also had a dream last night that I saw myself dressed in the navy blue UBC scrubs, heading to my first day of clinical. Woke up wanting this more than ever :( I'm not sure how I'll be able to carry myself throughout this month.

Meowth, Keep your chin up, no point in worrying about something out of your control. If you don't get it this year, there's always next year. Keep positive and you'll be great!

so has casper replaced interviews this year? i cant find any clear information regarding casper replacing interviews or not. anyone know for sure? :)

i feel the same way. i dont think i showed who i really am by taking casper and i cringe thinking back on some of my answers ...i think i would do better in an interview setting.. and i think theyd get to know more of the real me in an interview setting as well

Yes it has replaced the skype interviews from last year. Nobody knows how they determine who gets in and who doesn't though. Like how much the GPA, supplemental, and casper is weighted. It remains a mystery!

I haven't posted in this group yet, but I've read some of the posts and I love how supportive everyone is! :)

So I am applying to UBC Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. I did not feel good about my Casper test either, but as it turns out I have been accepted into 3rd year at Okanagan! So I'm guessing I did okay on Casper? And you guys probably did too!

It is odd though because all of the Ontario schools I have applied to haven't even updated my profile yet to say they received my test results. Also, I didn't even know UBCO accepted people into third year. I haven't heard back from Vancouver campus yet, but that being said, does anyone know what the difference is between third year Okanagan and the program at Vancouver?

How did you apply to third year?! I applied to the okanagan campus as well as a backup, however I only got accepted as a first year nursing student.
