Hi Everyone!
I've been searching for a thread for applicants to UBC's BScN program for September 2017, but I haven't found one. Please feel free to point me in the direction of an existing thread, or add to this one! I'm applying to UBC, U of T, and UWO for September, but UBC is definitely my first choice. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!
:)
I know where you are coming from! It is hard to prepare since it is on the spot problem solving and basic ethical dilemmas along with classic interview style questions. The practice questions I did with my friends brought up lots of different answers so I don't believe it is as black and white with regards to finding a correct answer. Fingers crossed it goes well! T-3 hours. Goodluck!
How did it go for you? I'm sure you did well! Now it's just a waiting game.
@future R.N. & to-be-nurse you guys glad the casper is over? I know I definitely felt a huge sense of relief! I can identify with your feeling of wanting cry @future R.N
I am definitely relieved that it's over! The CASPer people told me it takes approximately 3 weeks for them to send our marks to UBC. This helps a bit with a timeline. If the last CASPer is at the end of February, UBC won't receive all the results until the third week of March. I think we have a long wait ahead of us everyone.
@future.R.N. I suppose I am nervous about my GPA. I went a small college in BC and got an undergraduate degree in liberal arts. My GPA for my last two years was very high (3.8), but because it is an alternative school, they will assess my GPA course by course, and this makes me nervous. I also don't have a ton of healthcare experience - I work at a group home in social services and am a care aide but that's about it. I am involved in lots of northern initiatives but am really intimated by everyone else.
It is a big move, but luckily I have family in Vancouver so it won't be too big.
Also - during the Casper my internet was so bad. Up North the internet is not high speed, and it was so frustrating. There is literally no such thing as good internet up here! I'm even lucky I have okay internet. Oh well.

So they take your cumulative GPA? That's surprising. And it actually sounds like you have a lot of relevant experience! Working as a care aid would definitely stand on an application, in my opinion. So I wouldn't worry if I were you! :) At this point, it's out of our hands.
I'm hoping I'll get a reply from admissions soon, and I'll be able to share the information with everyone here. Has anyone else tried reaching them?
As soon as it ended, I felt like crying haha. Oh well. Did you apply to any other programs, or just UBC?
This is the only one I applied to, so I really hope it works out!

Really glad! I reviewed too many ethical dilemmas which did not really help... Now the wait begins for us all!
I am glad you guys are done the Casper! Let the wait commence! I took my Casper Jan 24th. so the wait feels even longer. I recently found out my Anat &phys PLAR application meets the anat and phys requirement for ubc. So taking that as good news. So Glad to have this thread to chat with you all! Fingers crossed we all get in!! í ½í¹Œí ½í¸Š

Well. I do not feel great about that.
