UBC BSN September 2017

Published

Hi Everyone!

I've been searching for a thread for applicants to UBC's BScN program for September 2017, but I haven't found one. Please feel free to point me in the direction of an existing thread, or add to this one! I'm applying to UBC, U of T, and UWO for September, but UBC is definitely my first choice. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

:)

@ljfinkler-kemeny I totally hear you. I'm feeling just as uneasy :( I don't think they count pass/fail courses. I think they just take whatever your last ten graded courses are when calculating your GPA. I'm not entirely sure though.

@tdmah they only take graded courses, no pass/fail

@ijfinkler-kemeny 3.7 is very good. That's in the 90%. The average of previous students was 80%. As long as you have some experience in a related field I think you're good.

I actually think a 3.7 is between 80-82%. Still very competitive. But 90%+ would be a 4.33 GPA.

3.7 on a 4.33 scale is 80-82% but on a 4.0 it's in the 90s I believe. I really don't like using GPAs. I'm much happier with percentages. So if you're at over 85% you're golden.

This is what I use to calculate my GPA on a 4.0 scale. UBC uses column 7. So a 3.7 would be 80-84%.

@mdana93 I agree though.. I like percentages way better! I hate how so many schools use different GPA scales. 4, 4.33, 9, 10, 12. So confusing!

Thanks! I've been calculating GPA by hand but your website works a lot better!

Hey everyone, new to the forum.. I think I remember reading that they look at last 30 credits and grade them on a 4.0 scale.

Does anyone know how they determine your GPA if you didn't take 5 classes per semester? I took 4 classes each semester in my last year, so they'll have to go back to the previous year for 2 more classes. Will they take the average of that semester?

From my understanding, they look at your last 30 credits assuming you have already graduated. If you are still enrolled in classes this semester they'll count back 30 credits starting with the classes you find ished December 2016. Then they might give you a conditional offer saying that you need to maintain a certain GPA. I could be wrong though

I'm in a similar situation and they said they would take the average of the semester for your remaining credits!
