Hi everybody! I haven't found an active discussion thread for September 2019 applicants to UBC's BSN program yet, so here is one!

I originally only applied to UBC and was really confident in my application, but people started asking me what my back up plan was...then I started getting worried.
I wonder what the application numbers are in comparison to how many students are accepted. I couldn't really find anything online for this...

I also applied to BCIT! You can find a document with admissions information on google by searching "2016/2017 ubc nursing admission cycle". This document states that only 120 applicants are accepted. Since UBC is such a great program, i'm sure they get A LOT of applicants! So I expect the chances to be pretty slim even though i'm super hopeful!

I remember reading a certain document on the UBC Nursing website that had the usual number of applicants vs successful candidates, and I calculated it to be a 24% acceptance rate.. which is.. really low and scary lol. I can't seem to access the document anymore but you used to be able to find it under "2016/2017 ubc nursing admission cycle" on google.
Yikes, that's lower than I thought. I'm a little late on the BCIT thing and I think I need to take a chemistry course. I like that UBC has a supplemental application, it seems like the other schools accept solely on GPA.

If you have taken any university level chem courses, i'm pretty sure those can be considered instead of high school level courses. You would have to verify this with BCIT admissions, though!
BCIT considers supplemental too: you fill out a form with previous work experience, and if you make it to the next round, you do a timed questionnaire/quiz where you're asked to describe certain experiences.
But yeah, with langara and douglas, they only look at GPA!

Oh that's great! I'll keep that in mind when I apply.
Hello! I am new to this thread. This is my second time applying to the UBC nursing program. I have 3 years of experience working in healthcare. Currently I am a counselor working with adolscents. I have a 3.6 GPA in my last 30 credits and I have a BA. I am excited to hear about admissions at end of April of course!! And yes the program only admits 120 applicants and they get approximately 500-600 applicants every year. Quite a small acceptance rate. Look forward to connecting with you all ?

Oh wow, I really don't feel good about my chances! Did they let you know why you didn't get in the first time?
