Hi everybody! I haven't found an active discussion thread for September 2019 applicants to UBC's BSN program yet, so here is one!

Currently I am a counselor working with adolscents. I have a 3.6 GPA in my last 30 credits and I have a BA. I am excited to hear about admissions at end of April of course!! And yes the program only admits 120 applicants and they get approximately 500-600 applicants every year. Quite a small acceptance rate. Look forward to connecting with you all ?
I'm surprised you only received a 3 in all the categories! It sounds like you have a really strong application ?

It's so nerve racking waiting until the end of April. This was something I decided to do in November and I did my undergraduate four years ago, so the application process was a little rushed for me.
Did anyone apply anywhere else? What are your back up plans? I've applied and been accepted to the Douglas pre-nursing program for Sept. And I think I'm going to get my ducks in a row to apply to BCIT as well...?
Yeah it’s so anxiety-inducing! I switched my degree path from UBC FNH right when I was supposed to finish it (Sept 2019 as my last year) ?
I’m applying to Langara in Jan 2020 so I should have all my prereqs done by Dec 2019. Taking the pre-req courses in the summer and fall as backup!

Yikes! I’m worried about my chances now too. (3.6 GPA on the 4.33 scale is superb! Mine’s ~3.83)
Again, what happens happens. If we’re not meant to be in UBC Nursing this Sept, it’s okay as long as we have backup. Trying again never hurts. Langara Nursing Sept 2020 is my goal if UBC doesn’t work out.

I'm guessing her GPA wasn't the same on her first application. However, still nervous about my chances.

No updates in extracurriculars really. I have a new job in counselling with adolescents and before that I was working in a clinic and gave out medications to patients so maybe those two experiences will help.

I'm laughing to myself, as we are all so desperate to know the "secret" to getting in. It's just a way to make the weeks go by.

Totally! A new school and intense program is intimidating enough!!
My GPA on my last 30 is a 3.88/4.33, BA in psych, program coordinator for company supporting adults with severe mental illnesses and developmental disabilities. I volunteer for a outreach team supporting exploited woman on the street. Am recently heading the Narcan team for the volunteer organization now but I started this new role after I applied sadly!!
