UBC BSN September 2018 Applicants

Published

Hello fellow applicants!

I was browsing and did not see a thread for the 2018 UBC BSN applicants so thought I'd start one.

I am just finishing up my supplemental nursing application and hope to finish my application by the end of today and have already submitted my transcript. Just wanted to know who else is applying/GPA/past experiences with UBC/any tips or information for the application anyone wishes to share.

A bit about myself.. I am currently an LPN working at a hospital and also work part-time in retail in a leadership role, I do not have a Bachelor's degree but am applying anyways (hoping my supplemental weighs heavy in my favour). I have a GPA of 3.55 and will have ~30 credits at the end of this Fall term. I have some volunteer experience working with companies during their charity campaigns and am hoping to do more volunteer work this year. I will also be applying to BCIT, Langara and Queen's University once their applications open up.

Good luck to everyone and please share any information you're able too!

wow that's INSANE. I feel like I keep hearing the same thing over and over again. First someone in admissions told me they would have a decision by April 17th. Then after that date, I heard we would know within the next week or two. Now it's another two weeks? What? Feels like we're never actually going to know. Getting SO impatient. Not all that fair in my opinion. Hard not to be sassy, I would have done the same

I like to imagine that they're so impressed by our applications that they're trying to see if they can expand the program and admit all of us :D

Did anyone hear how many applicants there were this year? I'm wondering if that has to do with the delay.

It's unfortunate they didn't give out an update regarding the date earlier, it would have saved everyone a ton of unnecessary stress. Hang in there everyone, we are all in this together so don't feel alone in your frustrations, I feel a lot of support already from this group

It sucks they didn't update the admission blog with new dates - could have saved a lot of anxiety and data constantly refreshing email/SSC.

I'm sure they don't have an easy job going through all the applications but hopefully they communicate better next time!

I'm really glad to know there are others waiting to know too.

Geez... Two weeks! So frustrating. Thank you all though. So glad not alone in this.

Ughhhh, two weeks?!? I also agree it would be hard not to be sassy! I have been accepted to BCIT for September 2018 and I need to accept/decline their offer by May 14th. Is anyone else in this position?

I am really glad we're all going through this together, the nerves are brutal!

I'm in the same position too! But I'm probably going to go to BCIT nursing even though I'm a current UBC student.

Why BCIT over UBC? :)

Why BCIT over UBC? :)

BCIT's nursing program has a better reputation, plus BCIT is a lot closer to my house than UBC. :)

I just got accepted to U of T's nursing program. However, I'm unsure as to which program to select if I get into UBC as well. Is anyone else in the same boat/able to provide some advice?

Good luck to you all!

If you're from BC I'd say go check out Ontario! (I'm bias being from Ontario) but Toronto is a great city and a lot of great hospitals.
