UAB AMNP 2017

Published

Hey everyone! I'm currently a student at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I graduate this December and I'll be applying to UAB's AMNP program this Fall for the Spring 2017 class! I hope this group/thread can be used to help each other out through the application process. Also, to anyone currently in the AMNP program, please don't hesitate to drop in and share your application experience! :)

Mine is Oct. 25th!!! So nervous and excited!!!

I am new to this thread but, I received an interview invite as well! Mine is October 28th!

When I am filling out the scholarship application does anyone know if I am supposed to choose the one for undergrad or graduate? I assume its the undergrad since the first year is a BSN?

You complete the graduate application. AMNP is listed on the graduate application

YAYYYYY CONGRATS EVERYONE! This is just so exciting! Mine is the 28th but I think I'll be scheduling a phone interview since my schedule is a little too hectic right now to be flying from Seattle.

I know we don't have to pick our specialties now, but what is everyone interested in choosing?

I remember from my informational session that last cycle, 70ish were invited to interview and 65ish were offered spots. My numbers may be a tad off as I am going from memory. Also, this year could be different w more applicants, etc. Good luck to all!

Congrats everyone!! I've given some thought to specialties, but I don't want to decide until we start clinicals and really get a feel of what I do and don't enjoy. I'm thinking about family, adult acute, and neonatal... but we'll see!!

Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Anyone else going for psych?

Received an email today as well, interview Oct 24th!! Im drawn more to the acute care NP or RNFA!

Either Women's Health or Family. Being an emergency nurse prac would be cool!

I'm going for family but it's really cool we don't have to choose right away so we have more time and experience to make our decisions. Does anyone plan on working at all during phase 1? I was thinking about getting a prn or one day a week position as a CNA at a hospital during the program but don't know if even that would be too much.

I'm thinking about emergency too! I really like that they offer sub specialties like that.
