UA MEPN 2019

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey guys I know we have months before the application due date but I have just recently decided that I am going to apply for UA's MEPN program. I'm currently finishing up microbiology and will finish off my prerequisites once I complete organic chemistry in the fall. I am extremely excited and also nervous to be applying. I still have to take the HESI so if you guys can offer any tips on how to prepare for it especially the vocab section that'd be great! Does anyone know how many apply vs are accepted and the stats of those who are usually accepted into the program? Also I'd greatly appreciate any insight on how the program is from students that have graduated from the program or current students of the program. Thanks!

Just submitted my GradApp! I can't wait to meet some of you on Saturday, but I don't know if I will be able to meet up for lunch.

Hey everyone I am an applicant from Gilbert AZ. If anyone lives in this area and wants to practice interviewing let me know. I will be out of town this weekend due to a family wedding so i will be doing an online interview. I can meet up maybe thursday morning. Good luck on interviews ?

I won't be able to make the lunch, but, does anyone know if the interviewers expect you to answer a question within a certain time frame? Like 2-5 minutes for each question? I feel like I have a lot I want to say but I don't want to go over anyone's time.

@jnurseapp I live in Mesa and would love to practice interview. I’ll send you a message.

@CaduceusClay yes, answers should be between 2-3 minutes, no longer.

Just a thought on time during interviews.

Seems like each person gets 10 minutes including question time.

So I would think I would keep answers to 20 to 40 seconds (that's a lot of words) and look for visual cues if more explanation is needed. I would think of it more like sound bites you would see on TV interviews. Or better yet those concise answers on beauty pageants for a lack of a comparison.

Remember 2 minutes is your average TV commercial break. That's more time than you think. The more time you allot to one question takes away from another of yours.

The time to read the above out loud is about 20 seconds.

Just a thought.

Btw. Random thought, but this show on Hulu that just came out Friday is hilarious. Pen15. It's about two 30 year olds who play their 15 year old awkward selfs back in time.

Yes there's a bunch of good stuff around the U. Prep &pastry, blue willow, trident

Hi guys! I have been following this thread for a while but I haven’t chimed in. First, wanted to say thank you for everyone that has been posting helpful advice on here, like the slides from the info workshop, potential questions, and anything else. I really hope I get to meet most of you. I am also from out of state and will be flying in to the interview. I hope I can join you all for lunch. It would really be great to get to learn about everyone’s stories and be able to support each other through this amazing, life-changing adventure.

If there are any finalized plans on a meet-up I’d love to stay in the loop. Can’t wait for Saturday!

How about if we firm up the lunch plan? Shall we say 12:30 at 1702 for beer and pizza (classic college diet ?). It's only a 10 min walk from the college of nursing. Some of the others like Prep & Pastry would require a drive, unfortunately.

Hi friends! I'm definitely down to get lunch. 1702 is really good, but there's also some good places on University Ave that are right by main campus and can give some out-of-towners a good idea of the feel of Tucson/UA campus. Pete's or Ben's or No Anchovies (in my opinion the best pizza in Tucson) are all on that street. But again 1702 is right by the nursing campus so either way I'm happy ?

Let's do...

1702 Craft Pizza and Beer at 12:30 pm MT this Saturday.

1702 E. Speedway Blvd. Tucson, Az 85719

Thanks for the input. Website map shows there is free parking as well if you drive there. Seems like a quarter mile walk south of the Nursing School. Sources tell me the space isn't difficult to navigate, just a one room dining area. So, we could let the hostess know to direct the folks to whichever area we end up seated in.

Perhaps bring cash for ease if we order as a group (and if we get name tags maybe you can save them).

All are welcomed of course and I suppose you can come as early as you want.

Maybe we can check out a place closer to the main campus if we have dinner too.

If you are here on the map, you've gone tooooo far!

Looking forward to meeting everyone at lunch! Safe travels to all coming in from out of town!?

Thanks for the answers about the interview time. I'll see you all on Saturday!
