UA MEPN 2019

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey guys I know we have months before the application due date but I have just recently decided that I am going to apply for UA's MEPN program. I'm currently finishing up microbiology and will finish off my prerequisites once I complete organic chemistry in the fall. I am extremely excited and also nervous to be applying. I still have to take the HESI so if you guys can offer any tips on how to prepare for it especially the vocab section that'd be great! Does anyone know how many apply vs are accepted and the stats of those who are usually accepted into the program? Also I'd greatly appreciate any insight on how the program is from students that have graduated from the program or current students of the program. Thanks!

Well I think they give themselves a good buffer because lots of people apply to multiple programs and may not accept the seat if offered. I am applying to several programs because I really cannot afford to not get into at least one of them at this time. But I still haven't decided which would be my first choice if I were by some miracle accepted to more than one!

To those that interviewed last year? Is the interview awkward with another person with you? I’m wondering if I should try to find my partner prior to going in or wait and meet them on the spot? This is the only program I’m applying to and fingers crossed I’m selected. I’m already worried about those 74 that have to be told no.

@tkelly11 You have a good idea, but I don't know how you'll find your partner unless you put up a sign like those picking up strangers at the airport while waiting in the lobby. ?

Perhaps you can get there early and role play.

I'm assuming everyone is interviewing in Tucson even those that prefer Phoenix. I have a 11:30 slot (which is the latest and preferred). I would think if everyone averages 10 minutes in a two-person group there is more than one station and we might get recorded for comparison sake.

Anyway I'm sure 20 of the 74 will get on the waitlist and get into the program eventually and maybe even 5 to 20 people might decline the interview for various reasons. And hopefully everyone else will get into a program elsewhere.

A classmate of mine only applied to the competitive UCLA Master's program (usually 600-800 applicants for 72 spots) and got in!

Good luck everyone.

I have a 9:30 and you are correct. They will be hard to find. The advisor said, at a application workshop, that all you will have time for is are introductions, even if you do find them. They are asking that you only get there 15min prior. I’ve never done a two person interview and wonder what that will look like. Also, how in the world will they interview 200 people ( 100 interviews ) in 3 hours?

I assume they have multiple interview panels going?

Hi everyone! It's usually two interviewers and you and the other person. There will be multiple sessions going during each time slot. Good luck!

Re: Grad App

Apparently I overlooked something and was reminded via email today of something important This might pertain to others in case you didn't get the email. For some reason, I thought we were to do this if and after we got accepted.

"If you have not already completed GradApp (link here), you must do so by 11:59pm MST on February 13. Candidates who do not complete the GradApp by that February 13 deadline will not be considered for admission, and their interview cancelled.

Lastly, the Grad App will require uploads of all unofficial transcripts."

Yes! I was actually TOLD at the application workshop that we could apply AFTER we were accepted. I did email them about this and asked and they confirmed we have to apply before interviews and that the fee is nonrefundable (even if we don't get admitted). I am a bit upset about it, honestly. I mean, another $85 ($95 if you are out of state) for something that they know at least 74 people won't be admitted to. Ugh!

Thanks @LAHammer for sharing this information- very kind of you!

Thank you @LAHammer as this is my first interview process so I don't know what to expect. Do you know if we need to bring anything on the day of the interview, like a notepad, resume, unofficial transcripts, etc?
