UA MEPN 2019

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey guys I know we have months before the application due date but I have just recently decided that I am going to apply for UA's MEPN program. I'm currently finishing up microbiology and will finish off my prerequisites once I complete organic chemistry in the fall. I am extremely excited and also nervous to be applying. I still have to take the HESI so if you guys can offer any tips on how to prepare for it especially the vocab section that'd be great! Does anyone know how many apply vs are accepted and the stats of those who are usually accepted into the program? Also I'd greatly appreciate any insight on how the program is from students that have graduated from the program or current students of the program. Thanks!

I would imagine you should not bring anything (perhaps a notepad would be allowed, but the interviews are so short I wouldn't expect that to be helpful and may serve as a distraction). The interview panel is not privy to that background information about the interviewees, so as to not skew their interpretation of interview skills. You should be able to present any relevant experience and knowledge in the interview itself.

Thank you so much!

@fnpaspiring I sent you a message in your box with some details.

Just submitted the UA GradApp and I'm glad it was a lot easier than the NursingCAS. I'm hoping that's the last time I have to pull all my transcripts from all of my prior institutions!

You don't need to bring anything per say, but wouldn't hurt if it makes you more comfortable ?

Thank you @LAHammer as this is my first interview process so I don't know what to expect. Do you know if we need to bring anything on the day of the interview, like a notepad, resume, unofficial transcripts, etc?

I spoke with an advisor today and was told to bring a copy of the email that I was sent to verify that I had applied for my fingerprint card if I didn’t have my card by Saturday.

Hi @tkelly11 I am an out of state applicant so I had to contact Arizona Department to mail me a paper application. However, they sent me a NON-IVP application, and I am not sure if we need to submit an IVP application.

I think I would call the UofA and the Pima county Sheriff’s office to be sure that you apply for, and get, the right one. I had a hard time too and I’m planning on asking the. If it’s correct on Saturday. My card is on its way so hopefully it gets here in time.

@fnpaspiring I am from out of state too. I wrote earlier about my Fingerprint experience. You can print out the form from their website. If you do this and drop off it at a post office before end of business day you may save up to 3 days. This can be done at a UPS store for not that much extra. I got my card from the authorities in a about 7 business days and you can check the your status on their site once they get your stuff. In an extreme emergency, you may be able to go to Yuma and get it done more quickly.

@CaduceusClay I finally send my grad app to. Scanning 5 of my 6 transcripts was indeed time consuming.

Group lunch on Saturday?

It would be great if there was a casual lunch provided by the school to talk to current and future students plus staff.

If not, any interest in meeting for lunch and/or beverages at 12:30 or 1 near the School of Nursing.

The last interview session starts at 11:30 which includes myself and some others on this site.

The best and most convenient option I see is:

Boston Market at 1903 E Speedway Blvd in Tucson (northeast corner at Campbell intersection) which seems like a quarter mile south from the school.

If there are better suggestions, please leave a comment. And of course, everyone is welcomed. You could tell future classmates that you meet on Saturday to swing by.

Yes I think lunch would be a great idea! I suggest 1702- it is across the street from the college of nursing, 1702 E Speedway. They serve pizza/local craft beer.
