In a way, I do. NCLEX is nothing like any of the practice tests I did, the millions of questions I reviewed, or anything I could ever imagine. It seems like it wants you to 'know something', but can't figure out what that something is. I had meds I didn't recognize, a few diseases never covered, and too freaking many 'pick all that apply'. I passed the first time with the minimum amount of questions, yet, I still stay strong in believeing that it was luck and God.

Nope. I don't believe it has to do with luck at all. It is all your education and experience with tests that allows you to 'guess' at the answer. But deep down, your ability to choose answers is based on what you've learned.

it is luck and knowlegege both. i belive 50% luck and 50% knowlege. i passed nclex 2nd time.

i believe it is 50/50 too! when you study, not 100% of it remains in our brain, only part of it does. it is luck when the stuff that stayed in yer brain are the ones written in yer exam:)

It's never luck; I don't believe in such thing. God knows the past, present and future. One cannot believe in luck and God at the same time; faith in God cannot co-exist with luck. If you have strong faith, you will never submit yourself to luck, you'd never even think about luck.

Luck won't have you pass this test. Knowledge and knowing how to apply that knowledge will.

You might correctly answer a question here or there based on luck, of course. But keeping enough of your questions above the passing standard (by correctly, repeatedly answering them) isn't luck.

Faith is entirely different question, but for what it's worth, I don't believe for a single minute that God would have you pass a test you weren't worthy of passing, when those impaired results would have you in the position to hurt people for the rest of your licensed life. Praying to pass, well, what ARE you asking for? To be granted something you're not worthy of? Or, if you ARE worthy at testing time, what are you praying for then? Faith in God is separate from faith in the nclex, in my opinion.

Nope, I believe preparation and knowledge wins on this one.

Your comment is inappropiate to me. I say this because NO ONE has the right to tell another person what to believe or what combination to believe in and in MY eye, it was a combination of both. I didn't ask you if it was okay to believe what I do. This thread asked for opinions and that is what I gave, and it does not matter how inconsistant or conflicting it is to you. Keep your faith as it is important to you, but you do not have the right to challenge mine. I have not, and would not do it to you, I expect the same in return.

i can agree more with your statement than the previous one made. i say it was was both, mainly because i studied 6 hours a day, 6 days a week and having taken a month off to study for the exam, and did not see much that i recognized. my reasoning came with doing over 300 questions a day, reading the rationales to both, right and wrong answers. i saw many things i clearly didn't know, but, i guess that somewhere in there, with all of the energy that i placed into that exam, i was able to pass it with minimum questions in 40 minutes. i considered myself to be lucky to actually have the endurance to sit through that exam without caving in and flipping out.

what makes me say luck at times is that i have seen students that had more on the ball than i did and placed even more energy into that exam is because sometimes, it is the questions asked. if one is being tested in an area that they really didn't master, and questions are being constantly thrown from that direction, that student may fail; or some people, under the pressure and fear of that exam, suddenly freeze up...and unfortunately fail, in spite of all of their concentrated efforts.

one thing i do know for sure...i was not going to go in there without deep and focused preparation. if i failed, i didn't want it to be because i did not give it my all. when i walked away from the exam, i was bewildered (like so many others) but, i did say to myself that i did all that was humanly possible to pass. i am so glad it is behind me...don't know if i can do that again.

I don't think God has anything to do with the NCLEX. In fact, I don't think he (or she) exists. I'm an atheist!

I can respect that totally. What annoyed me with the poster is that the belief system of an individual was challenged, and that, in my eye is unacceptable. My experience dealing with NCLEX and observing others has sometimes been that they took the right test at the right time, were tested with enough questions that brought them to the passing mark. Yes, it does take commitment and studying to make this happen, of course, but, goodness, I saw more things that I never touched and I actually had to look at some of the choices and say "You look too insane to me...you MUST be the answer".

NCLEX is a mystery! Heh heh. It's all supposed to be scientific, but they probably just have a trained parrot who taps on a keyboard to determine who passes or fails.

Instead of praying to God that I'm going to pass, I'm going to think "Crackers." Heh heh.
