U of A MEPN 2022

Published

Hello everyone. I am applying to the U of A MEPN program this fall for a May 2022 start. I'm super nervous and excited. Anyone else? I have not taken the HESI yet but will be doing so toward the end of Nov. Any advice?

5/3?! Sheesh that’s later than I thought.. I just want to make sure that I’m getting enough aid.

Same here. I just say the required cost of ONE of our textbooks/online accesses (can’t get it used) is $862 so I am going to need that student loan immediately…

$862?!?!? I am still figuring out how to look at book list. Is it on d2L? I will need the loan ASAP. I’m mind blown at the cost

There is a link for "booklist" within UAcess, under the Enrollment tad. You can look at your list. So far, our books are totaling $1500 and not all the classes have been listed yet. Seriously, WOW!....

OMG…. I thought I would be able to pay for MOST of the books without having to wait for the financial aid but it looks like that won’t be the case

My advice is to wait to order books until you can talk to your mentor about if they can sell any to you and when someone from the program says which books you'll need new and which you can use older versions. Financial aid kicks in right before school, but they give you enough, and you can even take out more through the GRAD PLUS loan if needed

Just to be clear, our eligibility for financial aid/ the financial aid package is determined through FAFSA right? Or is there a separate application that we have to submit?

My thing is I missed the deadline for the mentor ? so now I’m assuming I need to buy all

There's a facebook group that will open soon where students sell their books to non-mentees too

Thanks! I don’t have one but I might need to make one for this reason

Does anyone know if it is more worth it to purchase the bundles through the bookstore, or to purchase the books individually and buy them used since there are only a few books that must be new?

Buy books individually. The FA Davis books you have to buy new but use code "DAVIS20" for 20% discount. You can purchase the books through the FA Davis site.

The Davis bundle is actually cheaper and a good way to go since you have to have the access codes for hw. I skipped the elsevier bundle. I haven't seen your booklist yet to know how many books we current students have that are still applicable to new students
