Typical Cost for RN-BSN programs?

Nursing Students ADN/BSN

Published

Just curious what the typical cost is for a RN-BSN bridge program? I have seen costs range from $20,000-30,000. Is this typical?

Thanks for any info...

Also, if there is anyone out there who is attending/has attened/knows someone who has attended Chamberlain College of Nursing RN-BSN, I am interested in talking with you.

I don't recall what I paid, total, for the program I completed, but I guarantee you it was nowhere near $20,000; probably more like $2-3,000 dollars all told.

Oh man, I'm envious.

Again, I should probably point out that this was >15 years ago ... (And a loaf of bread cost a nickel, and I walked 20 miles through deep snow each way to school.) ;)

I just paid for mine. $5800. One year online program through a state university.

I am currently attending Benedictine University in Chicago. They offer a discount on their tuition to nurses for this program, and once you are in the program they offer the same discount to nurses on any other classes as well. It is a one year accelerated BSN completion. The classes are 5 weeks in length, we attend every Wednesday evening and have 4 weekend components in the year. The cost is about $8500 not including books. I had researched a few other options prior to finding this one and many were two year programs for about $12,000 to $16,000. I will be finishing in mid-August. It is a great program and I am glad I did it! I have also heard of a program through Purdue/Calumet for about $6000, online BSN completion. Hope this helps!

I'm looking into the online RN to BSN program at Fort Hays State and it seems like the tuition for whole program is around $5,250.

I think my state university tuition was about $85 a credit hour and I needed about 40 credit hours for the BSN completion. Even with textbooks and fees I don't think I spent more than 5K. I didn't really pay attention.

If you are on a tight budget, transfer in as many as they will allow from a community college, where tuition by the credit out might be 25-33% less than the state university level.

Now grad school is a different story. I try not to pay attention to that either, but I get harassed about it when the bills come every semester, lol.

See if you can talk to someone in HR, or your DON and do it as a group. You can get significant discounts. We have one starting in Louisiana where I work and they knocked 2000 off to make it 6500. They came out and made a presentation and needed a certain number of people to sign up.
