the time has come for me to create my very own cpne thread because if i don't i will be creating hundreds of threads and there is just no need for that. not only that i don't think lunah , sue or any other ec student or grad want a new stalker:msk:. so i am going to be posting my questions here and encourage others to chime in and ask questions as well ...that way we can all get through this nasty thing.
first off, i know y'all looked at the carjack ad threw up just wondering where to start. i actually took mine apart and i am working with the critical elements first. i will be ordering the flash cards and getting rob's cd but next week.
did anyone find that these careplans are so much different than what they where taught in school. i remember when i went to my workshop and lynn was going over these careplans ..i was like what??? is texas nursing really that different? :sfxpld:
as i move through this thing i would appreciate any help i can get...feel free to post..... i feel like a walking ticking time bomb and i dont even have a date yet.....
so i will be posting questions on here pretty regualrly now...since i am trying to get myself together..... lord have mercy on my self.....
what i mean and probably should have re-worded it is i know that it is noxious stimulus it is just not my first choice to use.
nail bed pressure is definitely a noxious stimulus ... try it on yourself -- it hurts! lol!! do not do it on a conscious patient. and you won't get an unconscious one for the cpne.the ec cpne dvd needs to be re-done without errors. i had it, but didn't watch it because i heard it had so many errors in it -- i didn't want to learn anything incorrectly.
For the flushes, we had a spike in a hanging bag of saline, and it's a one-way set-up -- you cannot push saline back in when you draw up your flushes, so I drew a little extra so I could tap out any air bubbles. For the medication, the spike in the multi-dose vial is vented, and you can push air back in when you're drawing up your medication.
one more obnoxious question......will the iv push station simulation lab order contain the amount of flush per syringe ...i have not seen anything on this yet.
can you waste in the trash can???

yes, and yes. :) my flush order was 1 ml before, 1 ml after. and i held the syringe upright over the trash can and flicked the bubbles up and out. if you go to page iv.j.3.c in the study guide, there is a sample mar for the iv push station that shows the flush order.
but do not -- i repeat do not -- dispose of your syringes in the trash can. they must must must go in the sharps container! yes, i know that's pretty obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people fail after completing everything correctly by tossing a syringe in the trash.
i have reviewed that study guide so many times i must have missed due to sleep deprivation or something..ill go back and review again....thank you for your time

you know what? i learned something new every time i read the darn thing! i don't think it's possible to retain every.little.detail of that 502-page monster unless you have a photographic memory! but practice makes perfect. :)
