OK. Finally got notification of investigation by Tx BNE. They are requesting information regarding my situation. I have been in TPAPN for over a year. I was reported to the Board by my former employer. Their letter is vague, but I certainly know what they are asking for. I don't have an attorney. I have already told TPAPN what I was doing, and went from self referral to third party when the board got notification from my old job. Having said that, they know what happened. I know everyone says get an attorney. Frankly, I would tell others the same...but the disciplinary matrix on the website is pretty clear. I know where I stand on that. What has other Tx nurses experience been on this...lawyer vs no lawyer. I have spent over 30,000 due to lost wages, treatment, drug testing, not to mention unrealized costs. For which I am grateful I had the funds, but I am at a point where I want to acknowledge my addiction, and my recovery, what I am doing now to practice safely and continue in my recovery. Also, if anyone in Texas would private message me the name of their attorney and their experience with them. I have 20 days to reply to this request. Just picking an attorney that I have no knowledge of doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do either. Appreciate your input.

I didn't have an attorney and got less than is what is on the matrix. I know some who did have an attorney and got worse and some who did and got less. I think it depends on the person to some degree but a lot of it is luck. I got lucky. I'm in Texas as well by the way. It's a tough call.

When I got my letter I just wrote out a statement admitted I had a problem and ask for 2nd chance in TPAPN and got board order about 3 weeks later in mail allowing me to restart my contract
What do you mean "restart contract"?

@ Blondie- I wondered about that, too! I hope this is not the usual process! Best of luck to you!!
I had been in TPAPN almost completed, had some problems withdrew from TPAPN ,stopped working so I could work on myself and was referred to BON. Hope that clears it up. I then got my board order and was given a time frame to start TPAPN again or have my license revoked. I'm now a little over 2 years into my contract it was for 2 years but did not return to work until 6 mo. ago so my contract was extended until I completed the 1 year working in nursing part of my contract. I always have to do things the hard way but I do them done eventually;)
Ok. Thanks guys!

MShaw, if you are going to discuss this on a forum...change your pic-and make this a safe space for you; nursing is a small world...
