TWU Spring 2018

Published

Hi!

I haven't seen a thread made for the TWU Spring 2018 application process, so decided to start one! I'm the type to worry, and I know I'm not alone, so what better place to vent than here? For anyone wondering, the application date for Spring 2018 is August 15th, 2017!

My GPA comes out to a 3.720 with TWU preference. I haven't taken my TEAs yet, but plan to soon.

How about y'all?

For the science classes with lecture and lab, it will be 3 credits for lecture and 1 credit for lab. So, say you got an A in A&P1, it will be 4 points for the 3-credit lecture and 4 points for the 1 credit lab for the 4 points total. Same goes for other grades. A= 4, B= 3, C= 2, D=1, F=0

I'm taking it online!

I'm scared of taking it online. I'm not the best at online classes; I like to see and hear the teacher plus since it's kind of a huge part of nursing classes, I don't want to not do well.

Greetings, future nurses!

It's that time of year again--application season! We are already getting frantic phone calls and emails about information shared here in AllNurses.com. (Y'all started early this year!) The staff here in TWU College of Nursing just want give you a few gentle reminders:

1. Take deep breaths and be patient. There is nothing so stress-inducing that you should be hyperventilating! :D

If you are concerned about your application, we are here to help you and answer questions, but there are only so many staff members to go around. We are doing our best to field your emails and phone calls.

2. For really in depth questions, please consider making an appointment to speak with an advisor.

That way, you can have uninterrupted time to chat and ask questions. If you call or email, sometimes we're in between appointments or meetings and may not be able to hang out and explain things in the depth that we would like.

3. As much as we would love to be able to predict the future, we are unable to tell you how competitive you are for the Spring 2018 application cycle because we haven't processed all of the applications. We can, however, give you a general idea of where you stand based on the average TEAS scores and GPAs for past application cycles.

4. For multiple TEAS attempts and course retakes, we use the most RECENT score/grade, whether it's higher or lower.

5. You do NOT need to submit transcripts to NursingCAS. All official transcripts need to be sent to TWU's Office of Admissions Processing: Transcripts - Admissions Processing - Texas Woman's University. If you are applying to multiple schools through NursingCAS, then you need to make sure to read the instructions for each individual school's application.

6. The application deadline is August 15, 2017. This means that by August 15, 2017:

- You have to be admitted to TWU (ApplyTexas.org)

- Your NursingCAS application has to be complete and submitted by 10:59 PM CST (NursingCAS.org)

- You need to have taken the TEAS and have requested your official ATI TEAS score report to be sent from ATI to TWU (ATItesting.com)

- All official transcripts from previous institutions need to be submitted to TWU's Office of Admissions Processing. (If you are finishing up courses this summer, then your transcripts need to be REQUESTED by the August 15th deadline. The transcripts have to arrive by September 1, 2017.)

7. All correspondence about your nursing application will be sent to the email address you used to sign up for NursingCAS. Make sure to check your email, especially the spam/junk folder. (Don't check it obsessively. Just... casually check it every day or so. Be cool.)

We hope that helps clear up some things. We'll try to pop in every once in a while to check in with you. (No promises, though!)

Remember to take deep breaths! We are rooting for each and every one of you! :)

Me too! I'm applying to the Houston campus. What about you?

Dallas!

How were you able to sign up for the patho course without being accepted to the program? I'm super interested in taking it online over the fall if I can!

Patho is the only course we are allowed to take before the program. It is highly suggested too!

The online course says that it requires departmental approval. Do I need to contact the school, do you know?

I was reading the thread for Fall 2017 and someone posted that their advisor told them if an applicant is applying to Dallas and has no bumps they are almost guaranteed not to get in even with a 4.0.

Does anyone know if this is true? Surely it can't be, but they said this came from a TWU advisor, so it kind of makes me really nervousí ½í¸¬

Yes, the school gives students a code for each class in order to register.
